CDTV / most rare Amiga? / games recommendations

Is it the most rare Amiga? Who else has one and what games do you guys recommend for it?

I don't think the CDTV is that rare. In the EU I imagine the A1000 is the most desirable and rare.

The custom CD mechanism is for all intents and purposes not replaceable and if it breaks you're stuffed. Memory upgrades and SCSI cards are / were expensive. Keyboards (with black keys intact) are becoming hard to find because lots have been butchered to make custom black A1200's.

The most rare Amiga's are ones which either were never for sale (i.e. Walker) or were custom designs for kiosks etc.

Xenon II CDTV is probably the best and only CDTV game worth owning.

Nah the CDTV is not rare, they pop up on ebay every few weeks, definitely the best looking Amiga though.

The most rare machines are the original Commodore Amiga 4000T systems (not the ESCOM/Amiga Tech ones), iirc Commodore only made 200 of them before they went under and they fetch ridiculous money now, one went on ebay for over £10,000 a few years back.

For accessories, the CD1200 which was supposed to be a CD32 expansion for the A1200 but Commodore went under before they could make them, and none of the prototypes have been seen since (sad to think it probably ended up in a skip)

Don't think its custom, looks like a Philips / Marantz CD mech to me.

It is a CR-511B made by Matsushita and it is unique to CDTV. It is not IDE nor a Loader and so cannot be replaced.

Some have said that it used the MKE/Panasonic interface but this is unconfirmed. Plus they are almost as rare.

Imagine CD1200 as portable CD player. Unit in one pocket, power brick in second and power source in backpack.

Could be Matsushita, would need to look again. Think you will find its a standard Audio CD mech, as used in hifi's.This is what they all used to do back then. Even the CD32 uses standard Audio hifi cd mech.

Turrican 1 & 2 for CDTV are both the floppy disk version "as is" on a CD.

No enhancements at all.

Not worth owning at the crazy inflated prices people ask for them.

Agreed on the PCB (thats to be expected), but the entire mech minus the PCB is a standard HiFi mech.
Have you ever seen a PCB fault. I have never seen one. Normally mech has issues.
