After a CF-IDE, but got a bit confused.
Hi Guys
I'm after a CF->IDE adapter and card for my A600. The card can be anything from 256 meg or upwards really. I saw this on eBay and thought it was a pretty good price as it includes the card.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amiga-600-...item1c35da9bf7 but then the note in there for A600 scared me.. Quote:
Of course if someone is happy to sell me a kit for my A600 which they know works, hit me up |

37.300 could have a 40MB limit on the IDE port.
So if you ever had a hard drive bigger than 40MB in your machine and it worked fine, chances are you'll be fine. I still consider a 4GB card overkill anyway. Never used anything bigger than 2GB. My A600 had a 256MB card for ages and it was fine, now it has 1GB just because that was the smaller thing I could find at a reasonable price. |

Hi h0ffman
I can sell you the same kit he is offering (inc 4gb Transcend card) for £20 inc postage. But as he says you need to have 37.300 Roms or above, i.e 37.300,37.350 or KS3.1 40.063 to use IDE, the older 2.0 rev 37.299 for example does not have IDE support at all! The 40mb limit Akira mentions has never been an issue for me. Drop me a PM if you want mine, to check your Rom revision just switch on your Amiga with no Disk inserted and you can see it on the boot screen Edit: I also have a 2gb Transcend card here I could do a little cheaper, I used it with my A600 that I since sold. Hehe, you should have asked at Datastorm. I'd have bored you to death with CF related minutia. :-)

Depends!
I have it installed in my stock A600 and it eats up about 600KB of RAM. Seems like for unexpanded/2MB RAM 68000 machines it is best to use FFS. SFS also yields similar results to PFS3 THread here: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=71976 |

Yeah, without fast RAM pfs3 is not your friend. :-)
You got to be quite careful with the amount of buffers too. FFS is a real pain at around 1GB, validation takes ages and eats up loads of RAM. |
