.DMS Files for AdSpeed Drivers

I found this information on the AdSpeed which in theory would run a Amiga 500 at 14 Mhz.

https://web.archive.org/web/20120623073821/http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/adspeed#s_adspeed

I was able to transfer the drivers with a .dms file extension. Workbench 1.3 did not know what to do with the .dms files.

I found a reference to it and it seems .dms was some kind of script that would need to be "unpacked" by another file? Here was the forum message on it if interested:

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=41711

When I tried the instructions I couldn't get the DMS111.run file to unpack the .dms file or whatever it does. Has anyone worked with .dms files that can give some advice on this? Or even better, does anyone have an executable of the AdSpeed drivers?

Thanks in advance!

DMS file is a packed diskimage. Run DMS111.run from Aminet and it will self extract. Then use type dms write diskimagefile.dms to unpack it.

Thanks Fryguy, let me ask two followup questions:

1) The DMS111.run is a application that does not need it's own diskimage?
2) When you run DMS111.run on a .dms file, the destination needs to be a new disk image or a blank disk?

dms111.run is a self extracting archive. You run it from the shell. You can extract it to RAM: or some directory on your HD or whatever.

The destination is a blank disk if you use a real amiga, a new disk image if you use an emulator.

Thanks for the instructions. Got it to work. (The .dms extractor that is.)
