WTB: Commodore 64 SID Chip
Yo!
I is after a SID chip from a commdore 64/128 (or if you have a faulty 64/128 i will consider too). I would prefer the 6581 version but will take the other one too! Regards |

If no one on here can help you it might be worth checking eBay on and off - they come up quite regularly, or at least they did when I was looking to buy one.

Personally I don't think £20 is too extortionate considering they're getting rarer and rarer - especially after lots and lots of the existing stock of 6581's was bought up by the company who made these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SidStation As you say, you could buy a C64 and get the SID chip from there - luckily the SID chip is mounted in a socket rather than soldered to the board so removal is normally no problem - but you're probably still looking at up to the £20 mark for a "breadbox" C64 (more likely to contain 6581 model SID) anyway. I bought a pair cos I wanted to put them into a HardSID unit. Out of interest, what are you after yours for...? |

I got two in a big bin in Dublin years ago, I didn't had time to get more, the bin was like 3 meters long and more than one hight. Plenty of vintage stuff, I just left half an hour and it was gone .
I've another one which is the one of the 5th Axis author... I could probably dig a 8580 but I don't really know where I put it Kamel |
