Which 1200 motherboard is best?
I realize best is a highly subjective term so if you'd like to elaborate on why some are better or worse than others that would be great. If I've missed any, please let me know and I'll see about having them added to the poll.

The 2B (Atechnologies) is a bastardisation of the 1D4 & 1D3 so I'd probably steer clear of that one.
I'd choose either 1D1 or 1D4 (final commodore revision before they went pop ) |

Ok I'm currently after a couple of 1200 boards and I've heard about compatiblity issues with some of them. Is this actually true though? Is version 2B the only one to avoid (see above)?
Thanks |

My 1200 has an NTSC rev. 1D1 and I recently got a PAL rev. 1D4 board that I was hoping to use in my black 1200 project but the board doesn't seem to work.

I love my 2B cause it has handy keyboard signals on a easily accesible port. had no problems with it 3+ years. It only creates problems if you have a shitty accelerator like apollo. if you're on blizzard, there's nothing to be afraid of.

1D.1 or 1D.3 are the best ones, 1D.4 (depends on Budgie Revision) and 2B has the most problems.

Is there any way to tell which revision I'm using without opening the amiga? ... I think I have the 2B cos I have a few problems with certain games with my apollo "shitty" accellerator (super skidmarks!)

I've got an Amiga Technologies A1200 which has a PAL rev. 1D4 board. They must have been using up old Commodore stock before they started using their own rev 2Bs. Looks like it's had a few fixes applied, and I don't have issues with PCMCIA or anything like that (and I'm using a "shitty" Apollo board too. Bloody Blizzard snobs! ). I've had the A1200 from new, so I know that it wasn't a previous owner who applied the fixes.

1D1 I expect is the deffinative one. I have a couple of 2B which are fine but my 1D4 hasnt got clock port pins and dont work well with my blizzppc. However its cable ribbon mouse port is easy to replace if the need ever arrises. Both need timing fixes (although ive not encountered any issues without them being done). The 1D1 has no issues (apart from a full clock port pin array). 2B is the most popular board, everytime I inherit a machine its a 2b. lastly cc_reset pcmcia issue I think haunts all revisions.
I wouldnt say avoid any particular revision though, as its not likely youll ever encounter a major problem with any of them. |

I've got three 2B rev mobos. All work fine with both my Apollo 40/40 and Blizzard 40/40.
You're probably going to run into problems when adding PPC/BVision cards or Zorro slots. |
