Perhaps a 2mb agnus-board could be your next schematic project Zetr0 If some new ones were fabricated, they'd sell like hotcakes.

@Braddo
the problem is getting hold of them 390544-03 8375 obese Angus chips is next to impossible. But i have been giving it some thought if the chip and its timing could be modeled in a spartan with 1.5MB added memory. it would take some development but i am pretty sure its possible.... then it may well be possible to add AGA to OCS chipsets... after all this is what a MINI MIG is all based around.. the thought of an upgradeable plug-on chipset sounds awesome.... even a simple chunky / planner graphics array could be developed... maybe even add upto 4MB of chip ram.... so you could choose a 1MB OCS / 2MB ECS/AGA or 4MB Chunky in the boot menu... this would have to have rom support though... arguably it might not be nessasary deffinately food for thought. |

It's still drying. That's the big question. I didn't even turn it on when I got it. Was too afraid too. I got it for a steal, $60 US w/shipping. Time will tell whether it was worth even that. It came with two suspect floppy drives and a scsi drive with 540megs. But at this point nothing is known good.

Could you take a close up photo of the RAM expansion board?
Nice job on the cleaning! I think it was a wise decision to not plug it in and turn it on immediately..you never know what can happen. Better to open it up and inspect everything first. |

Oooo, big, obese 'n dirty!
Thanks for the piccies @Zetr0: Always thinking, eh? I bet there's a sparkley positroninc brain in there... ...is this why you never seem to sleep. I wonder if this is where Clone-A may be heading. Currently plug-in replacement chips, but no reason why they couldn't be upgrades... ...it would be funny if all those virtually worthless A500's on fleaBay suddenly jump in price because they have socketed chips & the Clone-A team come up with a 8mb 'morbidly-obese Agnes', possibly with a few other tricks. |

What you actually mean is you'd like one The only people who want them are A2000 and CDTV users. Both of which are the minority of an already very small Amiga hardware market. If you want 2MByte chip, the cheapest thing it to get a different Amiga. Last edited by alexh; 11 January 2008 at 17:56. |

Nice.. I may try that bathing procedure with my CyberStormPPC. Should I remove the memory sticks and 060 before?

Now I am ready to move on to replacement of the battery since the original went to that great battery pasture in the sky. I wanted to move the battery off the motherboard, yet keep the charging circuit as original as possible.
This site gave me an idea. http://99.253.2.30/amiga/battery I know the original battery is 3.6V 70mAh NiCad, but does it matter what the mAh rating is? I mean as low as possible, but would a 3.6V 400mAh NiCad cordless phone battery work? I expect it would take forever to charge, but otherwise would it work? I may be wrong but I'm sure theres quite a few people who would like one. Apart from A2000 and CDTV users a lot of people have A500, why wouldn't they want a nice cheap ram-upgrade?

Even then you'd only have 1/10th the number of people required to make it profitable to remanufacture them and sell them at an acceptable price. Quote:
Unfortunately a re-run of MegaChips (even without an Agnus) doesn't make economic sense. The developer would never make their money back. There are a handful of hardware designs which may still be profitable, this isnt one of them. Last edited by alexh; 12 January 2008 at 01:40. |

A cordless phone battery works fine. Use NiMH.
