Defender Type shoot em up
Was there ever a 'Defender' horizontal scrolling shoot em up for the Amiga. I used to have one for the C64 taken from the original 'Williams Defender' which was almost, if not, exactly like the original arcade version.
The nearest thing I have ever had was 'Datastorm' on the Amiga but this lacks the same beasties, gameplay and sounds etc..... Surely someone has done a remake for the Amiga |

Looks like the 'Defender (Acid) is like the one I had ages ago on the Amiga (forgot about that one ) I was wondering if there was a commercial release using the original Williams graphics, sounds etc, like there was on the C64 |

Cheers Mad-Matt
Will check it out, although it looks like the game has already changed too much from the Williams arcade version. But nice find |

There's also Defender 2. Albeit with bizarre mouse control if I remember rightly.

I know it's not Amiga, but Ive just found my Dos version of 'Williams Defender', burnt to disk and left to collect dust it was, 'cause I couldn't use it when I changed to XP
But with the thanks of DosBox, mentioned in a different thread, I'm now playing Defender 1 and 2 and Galaxians etc. Now these are the original games, whooooohooooo! I'm back in the 80's once more Last edited by DH; 18 January 2009 at 18:27. |

Now how could I forget the the miggy, it was truly one of the best computer machines in the world and outstripped the PC Dos games by a huge margin
I would still like to get an Amiga version exactly like the original, you know I wonder if there is a game designer/coder on EAB that could tackle this. You can get all the original sounds from Defender, and it can't be that hard to create 'cause it's quite a simple little game but it's awesome. Now there's a challenge for someone, who's first in line to try |

Why use dosbox when you can experience the original game with Mame?
