AMIGA Snow Bros.!

It just came to my attention that Snow Bros was actually released for the AMIGA back in 1991 by Ocean!

I really don't know how I could have missed this back in the day, as I was heavily into the AMIGA scene more than anything else back then.

So, how well does the AMIGA version stand up against the Arcade, SEGA Mega Drive, NES and Gameboy versions, in the graphics, gameplay & Audio departments.

I imagine that AMIGA Snow Bros traditionally smokes all other versions in the music department at least, due to the superior audio capabilities.

Just a shame that it's not 2 players but still a very good conversion

Interestingly enough, the PCE version of Parasol Stars looks a bit more colourful than the AMIGA version!
It must have been one of the few occasions that the PCE colour palette was utilized to its full potential.

By the way, was there ever an Arcade version of Parasol Stars?
Or are the PCE & AMIGA versions, the only ones in existence?

Thanks for clearing that up!

Also...
LIQUID KIDS - AMIGA!
(Ocean France - Ocean)

It looks great!
I haven't tried it yet; I wonder how it compares to the Aracde & PCE versions?

The graphics look great and bit more colourful than the PCE & Arcade versions…
Note the rainbow copper effects in the background

Intro

Rainbow Copper effects

Sinister Bosses & Enemies

But everybody has to admit that the best conversion that's actually even better and enhanced compared to the original Arcade version (Graphics, Music & Gameplay) is…
Rod Land - AMIGA

That game is so cool on the AMIGA!
Even the Bonus 1up screen where the sexy fairy awards you with a 1UP was enhanced on the AMIGA!

TOKI was an excellent conversion too!
And so was Pang

@ST Dragon : parasol stars never existed as a coin op, this was confirmed by Mick West,
PS coder. He works from the pc engine version GFX, they downgraded them from 512 colors to 32.
The pc engine can throw more colors on screen than a regular amiga hence less colorfull GFX.
Taito themselves said there is no coin op of Parasol stars.
The game also exist on atari ST.

I really doubt that Parasol Stars on the PCE was able to utilize all 481 colours that it was capable of technically, simultaneously!
But admittedly, it is one of the more colorful PCE games using around 80-120 unique colours in a single scan line.
Thus the reason it looks more colorful on the PCE compared to the AMIGA.
However, that's nothing the AMIGA couldn't handle, but this is one of the rare occasions that the Rainbow Copper technique was not used in an AMIGA game, so the colours were limited only to 32!
But the AMIGA smokes the PCE version in the music and gameplay department, so it’s the better game imo.

However, this does not seem to be the case in Liquid Kids AMIGA! (Raibow Copper is used quite well).
Thus it looks more colourful than the PCE version.

Liquid Kid looks and plays awesome on the PC-Engine, just like the ports of Rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars, Dragon Spirit, Mr. Heli, Salamander, Parodius, Gradius I & II, Raiden, R-Type, Wonderboy in Monsterland etc.

I was watching an old episode of the X-Files today when I spotted Snow Bros in an amusement arcade. It also featured an early TV appearance from Jack Black and Phoebe's brother from Friends.

Fascinating stuff, eh.
