1084's Monitor is finally in my possession!! :D

WOOO for the Monitor ( 1084s ) !! First time I started it up I just had a grey screen, then a green one. And I needed to press a button on the back and all was good! It is so so much more vibrant, so much better than a standard CRT TV screen

But I have three questions regarding this monitor, not sure if it's normal

1) When I turn it on, it makes a slight squeak and a pop but everything so far works as it should. Is this normal?

2) Can I stop the horrible flickering in work bench? It's doing my head in

3) Off Topic - Can I use this on a C64, if so how?

Thanks

There are adapter cables for the C64 IIRC, check eBay.

Regarding flicker, try turning down brightness a bit and choose a dark background pattern in Workbench. That helps a bit. You are never going to get rid of the flicker entirely though.

NTSC screen flickers less as it's 60 Hz vs. 50 Hz.

Are you using an interlaced mode in WB? Otherwise it shouldn't flicker much, or, rather, you would notice flicker everywhere, not just WB.
My wife is not used to CRTs anymore and she really gets bothered by the 50Hz flicker of the 1084s I have, she always asks "how can you stare at that?"

I'm the same as your wife, It's not so much the interlace flicker, but low HZ flicker. I'm used to a 144hz monitor now, so seeing a screen at 50HZ in WB is a killer

Games not so bad, but I don't see me playing Amiga games for hours on end any more
