WarpEngine disabling 68040

I've now got a WarpEngine 4040 in my newly fixed A3000D :-)

But it has a jumper location A which if left open enables the 68040, but if closed disables the 68040.

I've tried disabling it but all I get is a black screen, but the system boots fine without the card or even in 68040 mode.

So does anyone know whether it's possible to disable the 68040 and fallback to the 68030 with this jumper ?
or what it's real use was ?

Thanks.

Did you set the other jumper (internal/external)? That jumper must set to internal to the WE works with the disable jumper.

Oh, and did you (or a previous owner) made the INT2 hack/fix? A4000 version don't have the INT2 fix on-board.

Do you have the manual?

BTW: the 4040 version don't physically fit in the A3000, AFAIK due the height of the SIMM chips (vertical sockets instead the A3000 low-profile ones). Are you running the A3000 without the cover?

So I have to set J102 ? or J104 or something else ?

Yes, I've made the INT2 fix.

Sorry, it's the 3040, made a typo there.

J102 must be set to internal, right.

The Warp Engine 3040 (and all WE intended for A3000/T) have the INT2 fix directly on board, if I'm not wrong.

Which is what I have. So J102 is INT, J104 is EXT and J100 is EXT.

The WarpEnging boots fine in 040 mode, but connecting the jumper on the board at position A, which should disable the 040, results in nothing when I power up.

So, is there something else I'm missing to get it to fallback to '030 mode ?
