start of something beautiful
hey all, long time no log-in! i'm pleased my account hasn't been deleted!
anyways, just a little post to show you what i'm up to with my beloved a1200 - the one that has been left in the garage for the past year and has been home to a family of mice who have peed and pooed all over it. i've salvaged the useable parts and built the worlds first Amiga powered cardboard box! http://www.pocketgopher.co.uk/amiga_rebuild i was so happy when i plugged it all up and it just worked like a dream. also, gotta say that power computing is an awesome shop, i ordered the keyboard converter yesterday afternoon and it was here first thing this morning. thats less than 24hours! by the end of next week, this should be in a nice case... will post pics as it gets closer that is all! |

LOL! Nice "case" . Well, an Amiga is still an Amiga, even on a cardboard box. What's gonna be your next "upgrade"
Anyway, great it works even if mice chew it for breakfast... |

The main thing of course is that the Amiga still works, so congrats on that! But every good motherboard deserves a home. An interesting project might be to figure out what sort of common object could potentially be converted into a "case" that could hold the mobo and drives, while providing enough ventilation to prevent overheating. A toilet would be a novel case if only it were large enough to do the job, but you get the general idea. Maybe you should start a "Help me design a new case" thread and see if anybody here can come up with any irresistible ideas for a hardware project.

I think home made transparent acrylic box will be cute, you have only to buy acrylic plates and special transparent glue.

just to clarify, this IS going to be re-housed inside something posh like it deserves, i was just so happy and proud of my little machine that it had survived 2 long winters in a cold garage, kept a family of mice warm AND still works perfectly! i hereby name it "Achilles", a true warrior! |
