Hi mr.vince
probably a big ask and a stupid question, but can you get the essence of this image to display briefly during boot? http://oldschoolgameblog.files.wordp...zeus68ktop.jpg I guess the production board may look less spectacular, but this is where the dream began for most of us. If a circuit board could ever be described as being sexy it has to be this one! It's a shame it will be hidden away in the machine.... |

crowdfunding
Hi
Just fired up my A500 after it resided 21 years in the attic. Started looking for ways to bring it in to the new millennium (ks switcher, hd et al) and found the aca500 and the Zeus. Both looks like great products but i like the internal mounting of the zeus a lot. I have now read this entire thread (took me a while) and i have seen vince a couple of times saying you probably wont use crowdsourcing (like kickstarter) to finance the zeus. What is the rationale behind that? is it the 5-8% fees or is it a more philosophical issue? If it is the fees than maybe there is cheaper crowdsourcing platforms? That said, really looking forward to this product, regardless of how you get it to the market! Last edited by kodapa; 20 November 2013 at 11:18. |

kodapa: Kipper2k is also taking pre-orders for his IDE+RAM board as a third option!
I was curious about this one also (actually I got here from a thread on a Swedish Amiga forum!) This thread is quite long, so I'm being lazy and asking if someone knows release date or production start date and any changes in specs (Since the first post was last updated Aug 2012.) And is there a price somewhere? Yes, I would have preferred if the ACA500 was internal too. Depending on whether there would be an easy way to make the CF cards accessible. It's definitely handy to have those outside Edit: I found a pic and a little more info on page 26. So I'm not completely lazy Last edited by Photon; 22 November 2013 at 20:34. |

I'm always waiting about Zeus news... But, may be I have better to pray?
About the ACA500, the external idea is just a geek choice to make his girlfriend happy. There are some ways to make the CF accessible (from left or bottom trap) as they are not hot plug at all, they don't need to be external. The A500 no miss space to embed that inside... It's sad. A few years ago i installed the CFIDE68K, but i wanted to be able to switch CF cards without reopening the case. Since the memory expansion occupied the only place i could install a removable CF using the trapdoor , i decided to use a Dremell to open a slot under the floppy for permanent use. I will use this slot with Zeus. Please see the attached picture.

I'm not sure what your question is. "Will i be able to use the CF with Zeus?"
If that the case, then , yes, most likely. You might need a new cable for it but that should be all, i think. |

Will the Mhz-switch be adjustable or just either 7Mhz or 50Mhz? Great project, as are the other A500 cards that have flown in!

You got ACA-500 and kipper Ram+IDE boards available to buy right now. Zeus and Elbox board are in the making. There were never more choices for A500, not to mention A600 when you have ACA, Vampire, Furia and kipper Ram boards too. Good times.

Not sure if we want to use Kickstarter for this, we do have a shop system and everything else in place. As for other questions: This accelerator will come with the source for the core, whatever you feel should be changed or is missing can be changed. Toy with it. |

@ Mr Vince
I wouldn't bother with kickstarter. If you reach your funding target Kickstarter will take a chunk of your pledges. I think doing your own thing with your own shop setup is all you need. |

Divide your desired amount of money by 0.9 if you're worried about losing money. Kickstarter will probably get you a lot more attention than a website only a subset of Amiga fans will visit.

Not worrying about the fees, we also pay fees for e.g. PayPal. However, using our webshop would mean having everything where it needs to be, with the full monty of invoices, postage, address printing etc. already set up.
We just checked the pre-requisites. We can start at 50 units, which will be the minimum. 100-200 would be our target for the first run. More details to follow. |
