AHI.device & some more questions
I'm sorry, but does somebody knows if ahi.device works with a normal amiga? I have a 4000 040 working with classicwb and i tried hively tracker. it says it needs ahi.device. Another question: will ahi.device use many ram-cpu resources? Im a bit afraid of installing it, because i assume if it was worthfull, classicwb should already have it pre-installed.
3. I'm getting lots of cpu-hang when loading mp3. will ahi.device help on that? Another question: anybody knows if it's possible to reset amiga after loading a cd32 game with idefix-cd32emul? I just have to shut down amiga and it's a very boredom. -Does anybody can tell me a good spreadsheet for amiga? -I have wb3.9 but classicwb is far better. However 3.9 may have better libs, whatever than 3.1. Does anybody knows the files I should replace? Many tks, from Portugal |

I think there is an AHI device for 14-bit Paula support
http://www.aminet.net/package/hard/d...amigaos-ahiusr You can always questions about Hively Tracker of BuZz of Exotica who did the 68K AmigaOS3.x port P.S. Can you play MP3 with a 68040? Is it fast enough? Last edited by alexh; 17 January 2007 at 16:03. |

Playing MP3's is very CPU intensive and varies from machine to machine - you will need to play around with the settings in order to get smooth playback.
The current settings are the default ones for Soundplayer - try looking in its options and loading the entire file into RAM first and see if that helps. If not, other options exist which alter quality for better performance. AHI can work with the native Paula, but it won't improve performance as all it does is add an extra software layer to sound output in order to give you more options. Not sure how much CPU overhead it uses. I've only installed it on the P96 versions to make use of the better quality UAE sound driver and never thought it would be required for Classic Amiga's without soundcards. Just try it and see - you can easily remove it. Last edited by Bloodwych; 19 January 2007 at 12:27. |
