Stuck at zipping the System
Spent ages (good 2 hours!) trying to work out how to get WinUAE and CWB running together and after much fiddling I finally managed to get to the selecting all the System folder in Dopus on DH0 then sending it over to the PC directory/Drive.....except I'm stumped. After selecting all the files in DH0 and hitting zip it asks for a name (System I put in as per the CWB instructions) and I hit enter but nothing happens besides a blank Directory Opus window.
So what do I do next guys? I'm also a bit confused with the way CWB handles the likes of KGLoad. I had to partition my 4GB CF card into 5 different sections 1 of the drives for WB, 1 for Work, 1 for original game installs and 2 for KGLoad packs yet when I right click the WB and select KG it brings up a fancy interface with what I can only assume is linking to the games saved in the System drive. Can you change that to point to different partitions? |

like i said it the other thread you need to change the assign for a-games to dh1 or whatever drive you installed the games to. Dont worry about zipping up system just mount your cf card in winuae and copy all the files across to your cf card with dopus under the emulation. Then you can transfer the cf to your real amiga.

Problem now is the system folder is around 390MB and I only created a 250MB partition for WB. Have to start again

is that because you created lots of system.zip in the temp folder by any chance? The classic workbench files are only about 80mb if youve installed games move them to another partition and change the assign.

Tell me about it. Spent around 3 hours trying to get the CF HD to work and partitioned then the rest of the evening messing with WinUAE, good 6 hours easy!

During the conversion of WB 3.1 to CWB on WinUAE it asks if you want to use a full set of Workbench disks. I didn't bother as I'd only converted one of my originals to ADF and the install went ahead just fine. Haven't done something silly by not using the full set have I?

It just means that the base install for your classic workbench is 3.0 and not 3.1 I dont think there is a lot of difference. I can send you the full set of ADF's if you like? I dont think there will be much difference tho to be honest.

Sorry if I missed it in this thread, but which CWB version are you trying to install? I only saw the upgrade question for 3.1 in the ADVSP setup. Do you mean that?

Thanks Steve but after a dig around the Amiga Forever CD I managed to find a complete set of WB3.1 ADF's
CyberDruid - I used the CWB Full install with the adf's. |

all the classic workbench packs give you the choice to upgrade to 3.1 at the time of install.

You should use 3.1 if you have the ADFs. It's like the cherry on top on the CWB cake

Update: Install has gone fine however something odd has happened. WB says I have 1,971,136 Chip RAM and 2,677,024 Fast. 2MB is bound to be the onboard but I'm using a 4MB Expansion card so where has it all gone?

ClassicWB is making best use of your RAM rather than having it sat doing nothing. Try and boot holding the left or right mouse buttons - you can boot into a low mem Workbench which you can customize yourself - so you have two installs for the price of one:
http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/multiboot.htm If you need more RAM, which you shouldn't for most tasks, then that is the one to boot into. You can reduce mem usage by enabling/disabling options under the top menubar tools menu or under settings. You can auto mount the CF card by moving the file CF0.info from Storage/Dosdrivers to Devs/Dosdrivers. P.S - enjoyed your Youtube vid of the A1200 arriving. Nice looking machine. |
