Yup, Sabre Team is cool Although very very short Just as you get to warm up to the game, it is over.
On PC, there are numerous Warhammer games. Chaos Gate being the first (and excellent). |

I loved Fallout: Tactics when it came out. The closest I'd come to playing a classic skirmish tabletop game on a computer. It reminded me of 'Confrontation' from the White Dwarf mags (geek alert), which later became repackaged and sold as 'Necromunda'.
I missed these great games on the Amiga first time around - it's about time I got into them! |

Fire Emblem series and Advance Wars series. Try them on a Gameboy Advance emulator to see if you like them. They're also available for newer Nintendo platforms.

Space Hulk on Amiga was an awesome turn-by-turn tactical squad based game, I played it a lot, and it comes highly recommended. There's also a PC remake out which isn't so bad either.

UFO Afterlight is 1 of 3 in a series
The Prequels are UFO Aftermath and UFO Aftershock, which are closer to the original X-Com's Of couse there are 3 of the first X-Com Series, 1st you know, second is Terror from the deep, and last is Apocalypse. Enforcer and Interceptor are not worth mentioning, though apparently I just did. There's also the Free Open Source of Alien AI, which is pretty great! http://ufoai.org |

I'm a HUGE X-Com fan (played 'em all, biggest favourite is the first one, but I really like Apocalypse as well) and I remember finding UFO Aftermath to be a steaming piece of crap - I remember being SO thrilled for a sequel, even if only a spiritual one... and then... I uninstalled it in something like 10 minutes.
Don't ask me for more detail, it was probably 6-8 years ago, but the disappointment is still vivid in my memory |

Jagged Alliance 2 as the grand daddy, as already mentioned... Then there's Incubation by BlueByte, although it is too puzzly for my tastes.

If you liked Battle Isle as well, Battle Worlds: Kronos might be the right game for you. Another fine TBS is Shattered Union.

Many fantastic options have been mentioned but nearly all of them are in other platforms than Amiga. I'll just suggest Perihelion for Amiga whatsoever because it has TBS combat too like the xcom series. Apart from the combat scenes, the rest of the game though is a first person rpg (think of eye of the beholder) in a post-apocalyptic environment like fallout which has many original elements to offer (such as the fantastic 'spell' creation system) and of course one of the most fascinating underground atmospheres ever. Another one of those old great Psygnosis moments...
