Nope, 100% positive is was the inscription on the gravestone in the advert.

As I said previously I had the A4 ad on my wall for years and feel pretty stupid now for remembering everything except what it was for.

+1 for it being on the gravestone, I can picture it in my head too. It might have been a game by Blizzard, come to think of it.

The inscription comically relates to managing land and people, that's why initially I thought it was a settlers game but I actually collect Settler related stuff and have never seen it in relation to that

Medieval

Hillside with one gravestone... maybe a castle in the background??? Scene was dark... may have been a lightning bolt???

Nothing/nobody.

Photographic.

The humour was all in the words...

It was definitely in a computer mag.

I have looked through quite a few old mags searching for this, and different ads for the same game are not uncommon...

I'm almost certain it was for a computer game... although it did cross my mind that it could have been for an article about a genre...

I remember this ad because it was the first thing I came across when flicking through the mag, and for a brief moment I thought the peasant might be the Amiga community... This strongly suggests it was post Commodore. It was a full page ad with no large writing apart from the inscription on the gravestone. It was near to the back of the mag in/near the serious section. The mag had views from the editor and other contributors along with their photos on the first few pages.

If I find it I will post it up here... even if it proves my memory to be total rubbish.

James absolutely nailed this before by the way, so I'm 100% sure this wasn't a figment of my imagination or the result of any mind altering substances I definitely had nothing to do with in the mid-90's.

I havent really been reading game magazines anymore, or paying attention to magazine ads, but it would think this ad style of mainly focusing on big amount of text on full page ad would be somewhere there around 1994 plus minus couple of years.

As example, UFO - Enemy unknowns ad as well as Civilizations (although civilization was much earlier actually already). Im not sure, but i feel like they didnt use that kind of advertising much around 1996 anymore, or then it might be they just didnt use them in Amiga magazines, as those were only that i read.

I also sort of remember this, but can't remember game. Lol
I spent 4 hours last night looking amiga format from 1991 to 1994 on archive.org they have scanned the adverts on those PDF. No luck I'm afraid, will try and check later dates!

I remember this advert, but I am pretty sure it was from the late 90s/early 2000's and was for hardware, maybe a GFX card or complete PC.

My memory of it is so unbelievably vague now, I bump this thread in the hope that it just clicks with someone and they immediately recall what it was.

Reading through all the posts in this forum I got confused. So to speak, is this definitely for an Amiga only game or not?

I honestly don't remember 100% but during the period I was only buying Amiga mags and the occasional issue of PC Format and CD Rom User so there's a good chance it was amiga related.

During the 90s I was working in the bush and didn't read any computer mags, but when I quit that job and moved back to civilization I bought a PC and started reading some of the PC mags. That's why I'm leaning toward it being late 90s/early 2ks and was not Amiga related at all (but then again my memory is so bad I would forget my balls if they weren't in a bag ).

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there was a dude standing next to the gravestone with a joystick in his hand, it could have been advertising a new controller maybe, I'm pretty certain it was for hardware though.
