MIDI in/out ports mod?
how possible is this to do on an A1200? I know you can buy/bid for midi boxes that come on ebay now and again (and here market place) but I just wondered if it's possible to get a kit (I have no idea how to do MIDI hardware) and have like 2 ports on the back (ST style) ? Has anyone done it? the ports would replace the serial port.

I built my own MIDI interface but there's nothing stopping you from making the circuit internal. Perhaps the more interesting way to make it would be to have the 5 pin DIN connectors elsewhere and a switch on the serial port to have one or the other?

You can plug the audio signal from your keyboard to the line-in jack, but not the MIDI signal..
Reword your question please. |

Yes, I can hear keyboard sound through line-in but music trackers which support MIDI keyboard not recognizing external input. Sorry for my poor english.

re: the original post, i had considered doing something similar with my Datel midi interface, as it pops out of the case quite easily.
this interested me though... are there and schematics readily available? (i cant spot anything on aminet) It would be nice to make it as small as possible if it was going to be made internal. |

Hardware is quite simple,
I have a schematic around here somewhere that be used / adapted. Making this internal will be a trick, you will have to feed the signals from the bottom of the motherboard with something like 28 or 30 AWG wire.... power can be fed from the floppy drive +5 port. let me see what I can dig up. I have just found this on AmiNet SwG-MboX looking at the schematics it looks simple enough and could be made internal - perhaps taking up the rear-expansion bay?
