Hi guys,
Do you know ZxMatrix? What do you think about it? It´s better to invest my few € in ZxMatrix or DivIDE adapter to my +3? And..anyone knows where I can buy ZxMatrix? |

i got a ZXCF running residos, i found on the whole that the divide route was way too expensive just to beef up a rather worthless speccy.
however, residos currently lacks (teh last time i checked) long file name support, so the games are kinda hard to negotiate around really. thats the only issue i have with it. i have that running on a black +2 |

That ZXCF doesn't look way less expensive than DIVIDE, if you buy the DIVIDE kit it's actually cheaper, I believe!

I have the ZXCF, had it since 2003, once in an +3. Then I sold it and kept the ZXCF.
Its fine, but I would prefer a menu instead of "DOS". |

What an awesome spectrum!
I wonder if you could get SymbOS working on such a machine..? I hope you have fun Zetr0 & do keep us posted. BTW: There are other platforms that could really benefit from the experience of a hardware Guru. |

Presumably something like any of these things could be made for an Amstrad CPC?

yeah, i recall the ZXCF not really saving me much money in the end, but i'm not unhappy with it.
i wasnt prepared to make a divide kit at the time. the divide offered in the UK was a divide+ and not only was it expensive but it was also on a loooooooooong waiting list. i do think there is a similar device on the cpc and i remember that being both rare and expensive too. keep me posted if you find anything interesting, my cpc 6128+ needs much love |

I finally got a +3, it's very easy to add an ide harddisk to it, just uptade the roms and wire a 8bit interface. that's all.
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/zxplus3e there are only 4 components on the simple ide board: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/zxplu...ce.html#simple (actually it's 3 but you'll need a 100nf cap to make it stable anyway). Well I also interested getting a ZXmatrix+zxusb soon. |

i think what i also forgot to mention was that i wanted to mount the interface internally, i dont like gadgets hanging out the back.
here is what the zxcf+ looks like in my machine... there is also a small switch and nmi button under the lip of the left of the machine, pretty much unnoticable unless you look for it. from the outside it looks like a normal +2. |

@Interceptor,
Now thats a nice bit of hackery sir! can one still use the Interface bus for say the DivIDE as well ? (i really want to add a top loading CDROM instead of the tape deck also curious as to why you didnt remove the RF unit and put in a simple Composite Video out instead ? still LOVIN' the Hackery! |

That looks like toooo much cabling for my liking!
I am actually eyeing the ZXMMC device, I have a worry though: It slots on the ZX80, but I do not think I can fit it inside the +3 and let the SD card peek to the outside... so I might need to make a ribbon cable modification or something :/ Anybody has a ZXMMC? |

Actually I think you can mount the ZXCF on the external port, you just have to wire up the right wire to a female connector.
