Scoopex...... yet more??????? Air Supply
In this thread:
https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=110149 Mr. Campbell found a terribly difficult game, highlighted by how difficult it was by Don Adan who pointed out that everyone back in the day didn't crack it properly, and, just to compound the problem even further....... its extremely rare! Scoopex deftly presents to you this COVID infected day (Yes really, I've got the COOF finally!!), Air Supply from Magic Bytes! Now you can get to play all those other excitingly bland coloured levels, though admittedly, some of the later music is pretty nice. Game doesn't work on anything above 68000 for 1990 game coding reasons!!!! This was done to ensure at least 1 100% version exists in ADF form for use on all other Amigas, WHDLoad will cure any other ills Gosh... if only someone could do a trainer................ Please find in the zone an aptly named file, and remember the usual rule: Enjoy.... or not! Last edited by Galahad/FLT; 25 March 2022 at 01:50. |

Record time! Begs to ask the question, if back in the day it was so challenging to crack, how did you manage in just 4 days (or less!)?

Took me 20 minutes! I just think there was no effort to playtest at the time because they underestimated the level of protection and released quickly thinking it was done. I think the main problem is that the game is SOOO hard if you don't know what the aim is, which is why people didnt realise back in the day, and as a result, people thought it was a shit game because they seemingly couldn't even complete the first level. |

I guess it's like the Hook game where you could copy it only to realise at the very end something was a miss because of playing a copy. Hope you get well soon! |

Magnificent work from Mr Galahad here, much appreciated.
For those of you who can't figure out the goal, the game's a bit like a cross between 1942, Uridium and Choplifter. Your object is to drop supplies on the buildings marked "HELP". You can only carry four aid packages at a time, so when you're out you have to return to base and land on the runway (approach from the bottom end only, at low speed). Landing will also repair any damage and replenish your stock of smart bombs, but weirdly NOT your fuel (maybe you can't afford it), which therefore acts as a time limit for each level. So don't be shy about using your smart bombs, you can always get more. To reverse, slow right down and then double-tap the joystick in the opposite direction to the one you're travelling in. There's also a really weird feature where you can "lock" your vertical position and only move sideways, but I cannot find any possible point to it. Oh, and beware of collecting the wingmen powerups - they stop you being able to drop supplies on buildings right at the edges of the screen, and there seems to be no way to get rid of them other than dying. Fortunately such buildings, and indeed the wingmen powerup itself, are rare. Other than that minor bit of poor design and the unimpressive graphics this is an inventive, fun, very hard arcade shooter, well worth the rescuing. Now, surely SOMEONE'S got the full Amigaboy Tetris? http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=110145 Last edited by S. Campbell; 25 March 2022 at 17:58. |

Another one out of the limbo, well done Galahad
Strange they haven't tried enough even the trained release, back in the day btw i'm having fun with this, definitely not so bad 'F6' is the key in my case, pressing that at each level start, make slow down everything, and the game becomes... doable the bonus stage is a turd, but the rest is more yes than no |

Thanks Alpha One. I had a few minutes today and started working on a trainer too but if you've already done it, I won't continue since I had the same stuff. I was also trying to get "Unlimited shield" and "Unlimited weapon" going but for the life of me I couldn't figure out where they were set!
And is it just me or was this game not coded well? For example, there's 5 (?) weapons that I could see. To switch weapons it sets various memory locations, but each is its own piece of code instead of a subroutine/function that would set a bunch of values. It felt like it was copy and pasted code throughout. For example: Spread shot: Code:
0002C86A 08eb 0001 0104 BSET.B #$0001,(A3,$0104) == $0004cbba [02] 0002C870 377c 0003 004e MOVE.W #$0003,(A3,$004e) == $0004cb04 [0003] 0002C876 42ab 002a CLR.L (A3,$002a) == $0004cae0 [008400bd] 0002C87A 42ab 002e CLR.L (A3,$002e) == $0004cae4 [00400057] 0002C87E 42ab 0244 CLR.L (A3,$0244) == $0004ccfa [000b0000] Code:
0002C8A0 377c 0004 004e MOVE.W #$0004,(A3,$004e) == $0004cb04 [0004] 0002C8A6 08ab 0001 0104 BCLR.B #$0001,(A3,$0104) == $0004cbba [00] 0002C8AC 42ab 002a CLR.L (A3,$002a) == $0004cae0 [00000000] 0002C8B0 42ab 002e CLR.L (A3,$002e) == $0004cae4 [0090005d] 0002C8B4 42ab 0244 CLR.L (A3,$0244) == $0004ccfa [00000000] Anyway, ramble over And thanks Galahad! Hope you get over COVID ASAP. Last edited by Radertified; 26 March 2022 at 00:38. |

seems something just in the first loading, reloading a freeze state (when into the main menu), make it work (tested a couple of mins ago with ussload and both 500+ and 1200 configurations)
