Was playing around yesterday as I do...
Downloaded the latest Windows version of ScummVM + the full DOTT "Talkie" image file and tested. This indeed has full speech throughout the game So, decided to try these files in the "dottAGA_novacoder [Day of the Tentacle AGA, WB-friendly version of Novacoder.].zip" package. Replaced the following with files from the full DOTT "Talkie" image file: ... MONSTER.SOU ... TENTACLE.000 ... TENTACLE.001 Everything works perfectly and from what I can see, no extra impact in performance I've now updated the package: a) with the above 3 files giving full speech. b) with the new icon in post #169. c) deleted the save file that was previously there. Instructions are basically the same as before:
The best WinUAE configuration is also the same as before: ... CPU = 68030 ... CPU Emulation Speed = Fastest possible ... FPU = None ... Chipset = AGA ... Cycle-exact (full) = unticked ... KS ROM v3.1 (A1200) rev 40.68 (512k).rom ... Chip = 2 MB ... Z2 Fast = 8 MB New file "DOTT_AGA (NovaCoder)(Full Talkie).lha" has now been uploaded to the EAB File Server under the directory "~Uploads/DamienD/LHAs" Of course many thanks to da man NovaCoder for this wonderful port!!! |

Ok, so found a bug with this port
When speaking to Nurse Edna and asking about Doctor Fred's sleepwalking it just loops... Pressing <Esc> won't get past this. |

Hmmm, just tested with the older / not full talkie package and this doesn't happen...
Guess I'll need to revert back to this then; shame really... was quite enjoying full speech |

Glad to see people are still interested in my old DOTT port but if you are actually interested in playing DOTT properly on a real Amiga then use one of my ScummVM ports for the best experience.
This old DOTT port was very buggy, done blame me if your Amiga explodes |

But the Dott AGA including sound is fast enough on a 030. ScummVM030 works only smooth without sound.

One of those lovely adventures I've always wanted for my Amiga 1200. No doubt I'm longing to watch the results! Keep up the good work, this could be amazing for the Amiga community.

Thanks, this was all achieved 9 years ago (DOTT running on an A1200)
[ Show youtube player ] If you add an accelerator then also run DOTT on an A500/A600 with ScummVM ECS [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by NovaCoder; 22 November 2018 at 01:02. |

Hello there!
Has anyone tried DOTT with OS 3.1.4 ? It used to work on my system but now it says "Error cannot open doomsound.library". Obviously doomsound.library is on my LIBS: folder (and also on my DOTT folder). I've also tried with doomsound.library.060 from ADoomPPC package since I'm using a Blizzard PPC with WarpOS. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks! Last edited by jurassicman; 26 January 2019 at 20:41. |

I once packed my Amiga 1200 into a backpack and lugged it to my PC-owning friend's house. We connected it to his TV, fired up ShapeShifter, and watched the DOTT intro on the television, and I remember him laughing at how the car twists and turns in the narrow mountain path.
Nowadays, I don't have access to a 68060 anymore, so this kind of more direct port is very welcome, as it should be faster than using ScummVM, which 'almost-sort-of-works', but isn't a lot of fun to use on my 68030-Amiga. (Although it has been awhile since I tested) It's interesting how easily an Amiga armed with ShapeShifter can play the Mac-version's music without problems, regardless of the amount of channels is has. I wonder if some kind of similar system could be used for the port. |
