Write protected?
Okay, I created a blank floppy with WinUAE and feed UFO: Enemy Unknown with it to save onto. But it says that the disk is still write protected?!! How can I remove this write-protection?
Thx |

You should check the attributes in Windows, maybe the write protection is set there ....

Well, thats the first thing I checked! Unfortunately that is not the case!
Currently I'm going through some related forum posts here and I discovered the following: someone stated that one has to set the attribute file to "read-write enabled". What and where is the attribute file? |

That option can only be found for HDF´s (HardFiles), not ADF´s ..... It´s used when adding a Windows Directory as Amiga HD you can protect it from being writen to it while under emulation .....

Hmm, I see. But let me recite what Maverick357 said about saving games:
"...For saving the game, you MUST deprotect the game disk (adf image attribute read-write enable). " ..and later on... "...First eject the disk (the adf file will be update if the attribute file is read-write enable) ..." So maybe there is indeed some attribute file for adf files, too?! |

Out of interest what version of WinUAE are you using Geordy?
Anyway here is a working save disk, just un-zip it and use it |

First of all - Retro, Ian - thx for your efforts!
The save.ADF u provided, Ian, worked ... not. For the write-protection issue it worked fine - no more error message appeared complaining about write protected disks. But after a message popped up that the game is now preparing the disk my emulated Amiga just crashs and restarts. That leads us two the question what WinUAE version I am using. It's the 0.8.16 Release 4 version. Im playing UFO in the back to the roots specified configuration it recommends for older games (ecs13) - means: 2MB Chip, 8MB Fast, 1MB Slow, Kick 1.3, 68000 CPU, fit to A500-speed, JIT forced, the rest is not relevant I believe. So what can I do now? |

First try using WinFellow alpha v0.4.3 build 1
That works for me sometimes. |
