np.
already explained in the ShowRoom and Tutorial thread, but for the sake of completeness: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the other day I found LifeForms/DanceForms for the pc and mac. is now free available with a collection of mocap data. a tutorial pdf (page 10+) says, you may export bones/skeleton to a lw scene file. not yet tested, but I think this is old enough to support LW5. at least worth a try. if the mac software works with an OS we can emulate on the amiga, we can truthfully tell them, it's all done on the amiga #1) just installed DanceForm - it is indeed a cool tool win98-win8. #2) LWS export plugin missing, you need to download it at the links below. #3) PC Lightwave Plugin for DanceForms (archive.org link) Mac Lightwave Plugin - sit.hqx - Mac Lightwave Update .sea.hqx - not tested. read the included README for where you have to place the included files. now there is a Lightwave Scene export option in the DanceForms Export requester #4) the exported scene you can load in LW5 - it does work #5) lightwave-tutorial.zip - example scenes included #6) CMU Motion Capture Library - 2500 human motions Last edited by emufan; 27 October 2017 at 20:38. |

Hey LW people, this may be a stupid question, but is there a feature/pluggin to get a solid viewport in layout (like you can in modeller)?
It's a real nuisance having to make a quickshade render just to see the surface of an object. |

Do you mean like see if the surface has gaps etc.? I remember a program called Fori's powerview that used to do this outside LW. I'll check to see if I have it, brb

@Marchie Hey, I found it and, guess what: it actually is a Modeler Plug-in I haven't used in ages!!!
@Emufan can you also check if it exists on the Plugins rep? I couldn't find it listed... USAGE: Add it as a plugin in Modeler. (It exists in 'Tools -> Custom' tab, not the usual 'Objects -> Custom' tab.) Once you have geometry loaded, just run it and it will invoke a window with a quickshade version of your object. Left click held rotates the object around, Right click changes from Wireframe to Quickshading. I hope this is what you search for. Have fun! /Muadib o7 |

The jump looks very cool! I forgot to test Powerview with stuff going on all the time.
A question: Does anyone know if AllKeyer can translate a child object's coordinates Globally instead for locally? I'm looking for something that can record a motion in relation to Global coords, not Locally... |

I haven't heard of Allkeyer, but it's name brings up another question -
Is there a way to select and move multiple keyframes? I know I can move keys in the curve editor, but that's only one channel of one object at a time. A character, for example, could consist of scores of objects and bones - is there a way to move/copy/paste every keyframe of a character? I'm using LW 3.5 (until a proper Vampire FPU comes available) and the most I can do is globally move a range of keys around, but that's limited to moving EVERY key for EVERY object in the scene, which isn't going to work for more complex scenarios. I've seen that 5.0 will copy/paste keys, but is this limited to just a single selected object? Or can one move/copy/paste keys for multiple objects at once? I know this is trying to make 1994 LW function like 2017 Maya or Blender, but it's kind of exciting (and surprising) to see just how far it can be pushed. |

I thought AllKeyer does only set keyframes at any key of an animation.
so not sure about that. the cool thing, Joe Angell released alot of his plugins and support tools on github. i'm in the process of building them/some, but there are a lot dependencies. something went weird in my buildchain, so I have to switch some includes on and off, while building something. a bit confusing :/ but some parts I could already build with sas/c. some tools are available as plugin and cli version. i'm sure there are some we can use with LW5. Quote:
you also extend that range for the other channels aswell - with the values of the other channel, not x-position. take a look at the J.Angell tools, maybe there is something, which is worth to build. Last edited by emufan; 20 October 2017 at 16:54. |

Hello
Is there a script (or a plugin) for the modeler that sets an angle between 2 polygons and another one that displays the angle between 2 polygons? Thanks. NB : I have rescued Imagine (1197 pages) and SAS C 6.5 (3 files) scan pdf manuals from one of my (now) dead hard disk. So if any one is interested ... |

DBP.p --> Distance_Between_Points attached, and put to my collection on the ftp #1) they give infos only. maybe you find something usefull in the Arexx Macro packs, listed on the 1st page. btw: some of the arexx macro work with lw5 modeler, other were designed for earlier versions. and do not work with lw5. it's a pity, but nothing we can do about that :/ Quote:

I've added a link (#6) to the CMU Motion Capture Library - 2500+ human motion files.
using DanceForms (DC) I tested some of the files, converted to a lightwave scene (bones only), but for now I've got some trouble with attaching my puppet object. as with the DC example files, you have one object you replace with your desired object. strange thing, the object isnt visible, or too small, I've no clue as of yet. I've downloaded the 2010 re-release of the MotionBuilder files. positive thing, they have the "T" pose in the first frame, so good for the default puppet, which does have that position. #1) to get the "T" pose in the lightwave scene, you have to duplicate the first frame with the "T" pose, or paste it 3 or 4 times ( frames 1 - 4 ), so the scene for lw5 will have that "T" pose. |

Now Imagine manual is in ftp ~Uploads/vxm/
About DBP.p, I did not try it but it looks strangely like polar coordinates (angle and distance). NB: SAS C will follow tomorrow. I have to find it again. |

it came as binary w/o src, so no real chance to somehow extend it. |
