CD32 games worth playing instaed of floppy versions?

Are there any CD32 games that are significantly better/different from their floppy-based AGA counterparts?

Back in the day I always assumed it was just a case of "bung the floppy version on a CD and get it in the shops", which is one reason why I never got a cd32.

I was wondering whether it's worth trying any of the CD32 versions of WHDloaded games instead of the AGA ones. Any worth a go?

Only a few CD32/CDTV suggestions to play:

Chaos Engine
Fire & Ice
Speedball
Simon the Sorcerer (with full speech)
Xenon 2 (CDTV)

A lot of CD32 games have real audio tracks & Intros which improves the atmosphere in the game. Give it a try.

The WHDLoad versions of some CD32 games which has floppy disc counterparts are not recommend, because they are lacking the audiotracks & intros.

dunno, most appear pretty much the same, i really like lamborghini american challenge cd32 though (for its cdda)

Beneath a Steel Sky has full speech also - although the CD seek time when somebody starts speaking really sucks ass

Star Crusader is enhanced with cut scenes and extras. Well worth getting, if its your kind of game. And presumably Liberation?

How does Fire and Ice differ?

Fire & Ice has a very nice composed cd audio tracks.

Nobody mentioned Pirates Gold!. IMHO this is the best version of all platforms.

Brian the Lion has more levels
shame Flink never came in floppy it was one of the best amiga plateform game and probably the most beautiful

Yes, but have you tried the Sega CD version? The controls are much smoother but the CD32 version looks a bit nicer.

Well it was probably too ambitious for the CD32 and I found it myself only playable with a 68030 at 50Mhz minimum
But great game and long enough to keep you busy for a while

Fire & Ice also has awesome background graphics (I guess this is AGA only), so WHDLoad version is still worth try (and you can switch back to chip music so you don't miss CD tracks too much ...)

I still find the original Amiga 500 version to be the absolute best. Maybe even better than todays remake.

But if you install it with WHDload on an amiga with lots of ram (I have 128mb), you can preload it and there's no pause whatsoever. I can't remember if it works without preloading though. Anyway, with 60-70mb it's quite a big preload.

Well I don't have 128mb of RAM so I can't use the whdload version (properly), so I just installed the CD version, it's no hassle, the hdd is easily fast enough to get the speech loaded up with no delay to the game.

It's magic.

I also agree that Fire & Ice is ver nice on the CD32, and the ability to still chose the chip music is the reason I have it (not the a500) version installed on my a1200

BattleChess CDTV or CD32 version have digital audio speech
Simon the Sorcerer CD32 also have digital audio speech
Alien Breed: Tower Assault CD32 has a lengthy FMV intro sequence and CD soundtrack.

microcosm doesnt come on cd so add that

I havent seen one game on cd32 which is infinitely better, but maingly the graphical adventures due to their speech and so on, but then again they werent really best suited for a 'console' either

A little warning about Simon the Sorcerer CD32. While it's nice to have full speech, it also contains NO subtitles, which was incredibly annoying for a dude like me, whose native language isn't english. Simon the Sorcerer AGA was the best version for me - as it contained the same fantastic graphics as the CD32 version, but with subtitles instead of speech.

Simon 2 on the other hand has both subtitles and speech..... either one can be disabled if wanted.
