Cool The Qube Commeth!

WTF?
Well judging by the baby-wipes you may guess I'm a little exited.
Screwdriver..? Yes I was inside it within seconds of opening its box!
Bottle of booze..? I grabbed something handy to give an idea of scale.
The observant may note a litter-tray in the distance - you never know!

WTF?
It's a nice little retro web-server thingie for, well, web-serving.
Plans, plans, I have plans...

Hmm, a Cobalt Qube.. Where from? How much? What are you planning to do with it?

I'll let this stay up here, but in the future, please try and keep the prb.Hardware section and it's subforums mainly Amiga related..

Sorry Jope - it's kind of Amiga-related.
Going to set up an Amiga-related resource site on it. (hopefully - gotta use retro hardware)

Got it on eBay - total inc shipping: about £40.00

Why thank you kind sir.
I'm intending the site to be kind-of open: Web pages with my random ramblings + an open upload/download area + room for general whithering.
Kind-of HTML BBS I suppose.
It will be whatever gets added.

So far...
...no psu but the one from my Zonbu fits - result!
...It starts, but the HDD doesn't spin up - bummer, but I'll want a bigger one anyway - I hope it's just the HDD.
...I've burned an install CD - Interesting you attach it to a PC via a crossover cable & boot the PC with the CD. I wonder what the hardware support is like..?
...Would be nice to have more than 16mb of ram! Max is 256 I think, but non-standard (expensive) simms - bah!

...Maybe I should steal this man's Qube instead. HyperQube

...Useful Info

@Zetr0:
HMOG!
That would be so great! Thank you. I'm reaching for the screwdriver...
...in the meantime I believe it's: 72-pin EDO Non-parity 3.3volt.
Piccies shortly...
...Um where did you get this ram..? Idle curiosity: I've not seen it used elsewhere.

@Paul_s: Geek yourself!

Hmmm, CobaltOS or NetBSD?
The former would be easier for me, but it will limit potential storage.
The latter has more potential, but will need delving into areas I'm not good @...
...ooo, just found a network install .iso - hurrah!

The little blue box is a Cobalt Qube2. A cute little Web-server thingie - small business issue a few years ago. Further info here and here.
The bottle of whiskey is of course to give an idea of size.
Cost me about £40.00 inc postage on fleaBay recently. (a bit of a bargain I think, but will need some upgrading - ram & hdd - to be genuinely useful. Sadly the ram is non-standard so if Zetr0 has any he will save me a big pile of cash!)
So far the real bonus was finding my Zonbu PSU fits this baby: The Zonbu won't be needing it soon and Qube PSU's are crap + horribly expensive to replace.

The red car is a 1969 OpelGT (all mine! Har, har, har, har). I included it to lend some aesthetic balance to the post - nothing at all to do with showing-off. Ahem...
Cost me about £5k a few months ago. (a bit of a bargain too - isn't fleaBay great? I won't mention how much the wheels were...) Lots of trick bits added with the result it doesn't go like a 37 year old sports car.
I have a feeling Retro-Nerd knows a bit about these...

Oh, well - some good news I suppose. I now know why it's not spinning up the HDD - Zonbu PSU isn't supplying enough juice...
...means I'm going to have to make a better PSU - have to see if an old laptop one I've got hanging around will do...
...I'm not going to bother looking for the correct connector (rocking-horse poo) will just butcher it & make a captive lead thingy of it.

Could take the messy option and have a external one?
Or how about one of those pico PSUs, would one of them push enough juice?

Oh, hold on... does this thing have a external PSU anyhow?
Looking at those links you posted the guy used a HP laptop power supply
