Interlagos: 76.449

Haven't played this for more than 20 years and any F1GP game for more than 10 years. Had one flying lap at each track (Interlagos first). Obviously lots of room for improvement. Playing on an Vanilla A600 with 2mb chip ram, from the ADF version posted here.

I removed detail with alt+D for speed improvement, I didn't change any settings at all (on car, game options, selected driver or anything), chose Q tires. This is correct, right?

This is such an amazing game for 1991 standards.

Was reading the Lemon thread... are we allowed to fuss with the driving-aids? Turning on Auto gear could be very helpful I'd guess. I don't know for sure what aids are on from default (and can't understand either with the new hacked cockpit )

By default only ideal line and suggested gear are active but you're allowed to activate the others if you want. It may be easier to drive with automatic gears but you can achieve better lap times with manual transmission.

Interlagos: 70,277
Estoril: 100,000

Not up to pace yet.

Is it just me or is it just impossible to make 2 flying laps with the Q Tires? After the 2nd lap, on middle of the 3rd lap I feel my car understeering a lot and I can't take the turns as agressively as before.

Played a little bit more tonight, took a lot of laps on Interlagos.. and I just suck at this game I can see myself doing a high 1.10 , but I doubt I'l be able to get anywhere near 1.9.whatever

On the other hand Estoril seems easier, I did just a couple of laps and I am doing a lot better already, I can see myself doing a 1.9 lap there.

Let's see, unfortunately I don't have vacations like I had last 2 years at this time of year, so my gaming time is very reduced. :/ I hope I can make to the next round, because there are some real good games on this competition, but it's going to be really tough

Yeh the Q tires are only good for one lap, possibly two if you take it easy on the first.
edit: and welcome back

Both are from akabei (2nd and 3rd best times were from Senna and Schumacher IIRC).
I don't remember I was that good on those tracks. It was most likely during a phase of the compo where there were only three people left (you, me and Dan).

So, "official world record" is (just a little bit) exaggerated.

Steef, too. Second 1.08-time.

Well, haven't found better lap times online so for now they are.
And they've proven to be very tough to beat. But with 8.5 days to go someone might finally do it. Let's see.

Interlagos - D for default cup.
john4p .............. 1: 09.877 ....A....D....-.....64/38.....14R....29 35 42 49 56 63

You still have one tenth to go before you beat your time with Automatic and D tyres in Brazil.

Just wanted to get below 1:10 before I begin Estoril which I'm not very familiar with. I'm not satisfied with my Interlagos-time yet.
But you're right, auto gears don't seem to be a huge disadvantage after all...still will never go back to them.

Having those two names behind you is not something you'd have to be ashamed of, akabei

Man, 1:09.291... that is some time on Interlagos!

Is there any way to get back to the pits faster than stoping the car at the track and waiting for they to pickup my car?
