Rebirth of the C64? Amiga next?

Replica C64 announced. No emulation, just looks. In time for the holidays?

Hiyas Oscar,

hmmmm the problem here is.... Commodore USA.... they like to announce everything... but then delivery very little.....

As much as I love the Classic 64.... theres no way I would waste a 1.x GHz Atom setup with that keyboard! urgh.....

There was a lot of bruha about Commodore USA wanting to release another computer called Amiga... again.... hot-air and no product...

Clearly these companies thrive on media attention... as I am yet to see any product produced in any quantity thats significant.

the real bitch of it is... this company could EASILY clean up - big time... by -
  • Adopting and then adapting a Linux Distro.
  • Redesigning a reto-esque case/chassis
  • Off the shelf x86 components
  • Bundle it with some emulation software and newer 3D game type software

price it for under $350 for the base unit / keyboard / mouse - and it would be money in the bank!

instead we are met with suposed press releases, statements of product.... total vapour ware...

Well they do have one model called the "AMIGO". Close enough I suppose.

If they only would start manufacturing and selling brand new Amiga cases and keys I for one would be a happy camper.

What a load of buzz-word bollocks. For the love of god, will someone ban the use of the words 'commodore' and 'amiga' and just let them rest in bloody piece? It's rediculous - this sham has gone on long enough and I'm getting naffed off with the whole charade! x a billion blitters

It'd be fine if the name was ever owned by someone with a genuine passion for the original, for clever engineering and for proper innovation. Just that instead it seems to get tossed around as a "valuable" brand name and used to squeeze every last drop of money out of a small number of hardcore fans (what's worse is, I'm tempted to buy into it i.e. OS 4.1 but that's another story)

How MANY times have we heard this shit!? It must be at the VERY LEAST 50 times!! As Paul_s said, lets just let Commodore and the Amiga rest in peace. Its the end of an era, time to grow up! accept it! and move on!!! But of course, keep on using our classic Amiga's
