manual or not you still didn't tweak it for max compression, this is the string I worked out for lzxing many years ago. Still existing in my SID button.

c:LZX -a -e -Qf -r -Y -9 af

these days I use tar and bz2, a side benefit? of using geekgadgets too long and besides... LZX isn't very good at archiving 100s of megs at one time...

Thumbs down This stops HERE !

While it is true BarrySWE asks a heck of a lot of questions DrQ he is a relative NEWBIE to ALL things Amiga

So what may seem to you like silly questions are in fact reflecting the fact we are NO LONGER in a time when there are Amiga magazines and guides to help out beginers

Considering you already gave the RTFM point, earlier in this thread pulling the extra comment in your last post could not be considered less than provocative to BarrySWE

Now do I have to close this thread because one of you is making this seem personal ?

I should hope not

Fair enough, I'm just a bit annoid by people not even bothering to read through the docs that is following the software they are using, or doing a little search on the internet, or even do a little thinking of them selves.

I believe I'm entitled to my oppinions, if I'm not, then this is certainly not the place for me to be.

This board NEEDs informed opinions DoctorQ and your assitance across the many threads you have posted in has been invaluable to a large number of this sites regular vistors.

I defend your RIGHT to state that too many enquiries are made because people are eiether too lazy to use the COMMON search engines YAHOO, GOOGLE etc to find theri answer or havent bothered to look at the "READ ME " files included in most Amiga software.

For most of us who were with this machine from its begining we were involved in a learning curve, that meant "We did not expect" software to be simply single eazy settings , because with the Amiga OS we were able to tailor so many things to our preferences, thats what attracted us to stay with it customisation.

New users have been enroled from M$,s myth of "Plug & Play" and are clueless where to look for the information we took as part of the package to be explored .

In short I,m saying I agree with your stance on this subject and understand your anger, and as you personaly know have previously complained over things that wound me up as well, so there is room here for a wide range of opinion as LONG as its about Amiga & not personalities

FFS sometimes its easier to ask than rtfm and have to work out the optimum settings yourself .. this is what this forum is here for afterall .. so DoctorQ if you dont like ppl asking what you've already seen the answer too beforehand, dont look(read) .. simple

And Woody57 .. stop typing up long essays man .. i'm at work and dont have time to read your involved replies ! :P (or perhaps i should not look(read))

there is a partial port as in...

warpos unlzx...

in the readme it includes PPC

http://main.aminet.net/util/arc/UnLzxWOS.lha

but I assume you're more interested in the compressing not the uncompressing...

do you have a link to the source?

maybe a tinker with vbcc warpos is in order?

I was interested in compressing mostly, dunno any link to the source, so that could be a problem porting :/ ...

Sure a ppc version would be nice to have but the 680x0 version works ok, i'm just after the speed increase
