I've said it before and I'll say it again, Toni is the unsung hero of the Amiga world. He's a workman, he's like the tide washing away at a supposedly impregnable stone, eroding the "impossible" and "can't be done" and "would be too slow" down to a fine sand, which he then churns against the next task.

Go Toni!

Can you imagine how much a Kickstarter project to port PPC to Amiga emulation could have costed? Now think about using OS4.1, etc, etc ...

Hi Fernando, settings should be logged in the file I can send you the config I use tomorrow. It loads the os4 rom, resets and ppc crashes at a green screen.

This is what I get. It loads the rom and freezes on a red screen. If I reset it, it freezes on a green screen the second time and the third time, it just gets to the reset black screen and Winuae stops responding if I reset it a fourth time. It was the same when I tried the OS4 install floppy.

I don't know if it is possible with WinUAE, but on OS 4 or OS 4.1 Classic you can enable serial output to see why it is crashing.

Use kernel.debug (modify your kicklayout), then in the startup-sequence BootLoader command line put something like this:

BootLoader COMMANDLINE="SERIAL debuglevel=5 BaudRate=115200".

I can tell you from experience a red screen means PPC is not working or not present. (I'm an OS4 classic beta tester

Wrong version. (beta9 is old and I am quite sure this problem is already fixed).

Just add -serlog command line to see serial log in log window.

It crashes (red screen) because PPC BAT MMU registers (similar to 68030+ TTRs) are either invalid or some memory address is wrong.

Only way to confirm is to crash it on real hardware early enough (I don't know how..) and compare serial dump register contents.

I think Toni has suggested that we move any PPC info/help to a new thread, so I created a new one for this. If he didn't, I apologize in advance.

after lot of suffering I have a descent blizard ppc emulation working
I solved all problems using BPPCFix-GUI , then I can change between kernels with a simple click

http://aminet.net/util/libs/BPPCFix-GUI.lha

what I tested:

warpjpeg datatype: working.

mpega.library ppc: working but very slow, there is not enough emulation power to play any mp3 file at 44100 hz

warphexen: not working, after I select screen mode screen goes black

warpheretic: idem as warphexen

my conclusion:
The emulation of ppc is yet very slow,I calculated is about 25% of a ppc at 166mhz
unless some PPC- JIT emulation is implemented this is real obsolete because even a haswell intel cpu which are fantastic in single core speed will not reach the 50% of power of a 160mhz ppc in the weakest blizzard

Apparently 3.0 is enough, according to AmigaKit's OS4.1 purchase page.

@Sandro:
Speed is not the Point at this Stage of PPC Emulation.

Those were crap ports anyway, your not missing anything by not being able to run those versions.

The powerUP port of heretic runs nice and works via the powerup emulaton in warpos as well.
