Sword ECS for A500/A600
I am looking for the game "Sword" Published by Titan Computers for A500 (ECS).
I tried to search a lot in my stuff and on the web but I managed to find only the AGA version that does not work on my A500. HOLsays that there is a version for ECS, or at least a version for both AGA / ECS. Someone could clarify this issue? thanks |

Looks like an AGA only game. Never seen an OCS/ECS version.

I think the game is not AGA only, are there any special AGA features in this game ?, rather i would think the game needs additional RAM or even FastRAM.

I was too lazy to test all Amiga configs. AGA works for sure.

I just tested the WHDLoad version on A600 2MB (obviously ECS Amiga) and it doesn't work. The install reports that the installed programs requires the 68EC020 CPU. The WHDLoad ReadMe file reports that the slave requires the 3.1 Kickstart ROM installed. This doesn't mean it's an AGA game, but it is highly probable.

So an A500+020/30 turbocard would do the trick.

I found only this version:
Sword (1997) (Titan Computer) (AGA) [h FTH] I tried to run it with many WinUAE configurations but none worked: 68000 / 1MB chip / 1 Fast / ECS 68020 / 2MB chip / 0 Fast / ECS 68020 / 2MB chip / 2 Fast / ECS 68040 / 2MB chip / 4 Fast / ECS HOL and AmigaLemon report that it runs on ECS. a mystery... maybe the first target was Amiga ECS, than changed to AGA |

I find this game very, very difficult. Perhaps it's my increasing age. What's your opinion.

This game looks great, but is let down by terrible gameplay, no jump button, and instant death. Each level plays out in the exact same pattern each time you play it, like an old 8-bit game.
I think Sword is best appreciated in screenshots, as a game it's not any fun, particularly as it has a similar look to Ruff n Tumble, and that's probably what most people were expecting the game to be like when they played it the first time. |

st2: Try commenting out the first two lines of the startup-sequence. I did this and it boots great on an ordinary A500. I only made disk 1 of 4 to try on the Amiga, but I'm actually playing it on WinUAE right now and it's doing fine too. Will also run via 'Sword' icon provided Workbench is already loaded and the library from game disk is copied to WB disk.

This is true, I was talking about the original, unmodified game.
