WinUAE Voodoo 3 emulation testing

It was late last night and I messed up RDB, so system kept guru'ing on boot.

As were all stuck at the same point, I do wonder if there is something wrong with the build we are using.

MMCD update 2.2 (pci.lib v9.9) seems to be the last version with some signs of life. Voodoo screenmodes appear but only produce a grey screen.

Ironically, AmigaOS4 support works mostly fine as it doesn't use elbox drivers. Voodoo3, sb128, fastethernet all working off the mediator 4000.

I know a1200 is not supported, but that one is producing a right strange memory map.

@Toni, What is the exact Bios version you are using and pci.lib version? maybe that will help narrow down issues if we can match similar setup.

I have pci.library 9.11 (MM_CD_UP2.5)
Bios is https://3dfxbios.cl-rahden.de/index....2.15.11_LC.zip

winuae.7z updated.

If it works with 9.11 but not with some older or newer: download to matching MM_CD_UDP file needed. (and make sure pci.library and voodoo.card are matched)

EDIT: I can confirm crash with latest pci.library.

Fixed. PCem Voodoo 3 emulation only supported 16-bit PCI IO space which confused latest pci.library, probably because PCI spec says IO BARs should be full 32-bit.

i installed elboxcd then 2.5 update and pci.libs 9.11 and bios
and os 4.1FE no longer booting
then picasso96 from amigaos3.9 cd crashes here is the dump

Can I just ask - what does Voodoo 3 emulation do for WinUAE - maybe I'm being obtuse but surely Voodoo emulation is more around PC Emulation (so a Glidos type thing) & running late DOS / early ish Windows era stuff under say DOSBox - rather than anything specificallt Amiga-related, or am I missing something obvious ?

You are missing that Voodoo cards are supported by Warp3D for hardware 3d rendering which a handful of games (pc ports I grant you) use. A few scene demos use Warp3d as well and AmigaOS4 especially for hardware accelerated workbench features.

Why are you still trying to introduce unnecessary complexity? Just do plain 3.1 installation, no OS39 etc until basic setup is confirmed working.

Also crash dumps are useless from unofficial betas.

Because it is one of the "rare" boards that are "all OS" supported (3.x, OS4, Amiga 68k/PPC linux/unix stuff) and has large enough VRAM to support full HD resolutions at 32-bit.

3D isn't really the point.. It is only a bonus.

I have Mediacor CD A1200 and so i tried with A1200 config.

i setup WinUAE with:
Voodoo 3 3000 (3dfx)
Mediator A1200

I installed Mediator CD
I installed Picasso96 and choose Cybervision64/3D
I renamed CVision64 in Voodoo in Devs:
I put in tooltype the board: Voodoo
Copied pci.library in libs
I used 3dfx bios: 3k12sd.rom (the same bios that only work on PCem V17 with Voodoo 3 3000)

Reset

Nothing. i have only PAL resolution and Picasso96Mode not detect board

Those and the versions Toni typed..I'm getting grey screen, same as Matt. Using A4000MK2 with Full PCI DMA (or without).

If you only have PAL resolutions (all non-PAL monitors disappeared and no Voodoo modes): same happened in my tests when I used bad/wrong/incompatible original monitor file as a source file for voodoo and voodoo.info.

I used another one (=not following the document) and it worked.

I don't remember, perhaps it was cybervision64. I guess most likely reason is *.info having some incompatible settings enabled.

winuaelog.txt needed. Does it switch to Voodoo mode? (=END+F9 switches back to native?)

I'm waiting till the next build before messing with it anymore but I did notice while testing last night with mmcd 2.5 driver that if the driver is started at boot time, then I get a hang or reset. But if I boot without the driver enabled and I start pciinfo to initialize pci.lib and then start the voodoo driver, I can test each mode in picasso96mode and initially get a grey screen. If i hit 'Test' a couple more times I do eventually get the test card appear.

Warp3D not doing much yet. Warptest Just says driver found but cant find a ModeID.

Ah ok - so does that include the Amiga version of wip3out ?

Could you perhaps advise which other games this includes ?
