Uridium 2
The rip at UnExotica is incomplete and has been so for a long time now. Following a discussion I had a few years ago XtC, he mentioned that Don Adan had it on his long "to-do" list. Three years later and there's still no sign. With this in mind is there anyone around here who can finally complete this music rip? This game has an excellent soundtrack, which is very much deserving of a complete rip.
The missing tunes can be witnessed in the longplay that's on youtube: [ Show youtube player ] Here are the points in the longplay video where the missing tunes appear: 5:23 - core theme 6:32 - in-game theme 7:56 - in-game theme 10:26 - in-game theme 12:32 - core theme 13:34 - in-game theme 30:54 - core theme 31:58 - in-game theme 44:40 - in-game theme 1:00:23 - in-game theme And here are some other reference points where they can be heard again: 17:54 20:49 28:39 34:12 46:46 55:24 1:04:17 1:08:05 1:23:27 There might also be a couple of tiny jingles missing too (such as when you lose all your lives). This will need double-checking though. Does anyone fancy having a crack at doing this? |

It's ALL about the loader music!! Awesome tune, infact so much so I converted it to protracker. Thinking of doing a fully fledged remix at some point.

Interestingly, Jason Page actually composed some studio versions for the (never released) CD32 version. Unfortunately he lost the DATs so they're lost forever.

Did you convert the very first loader tune, or the one that plays to the loading screen with the blueprints between every new stage? If it's the latter one, would you mind sharing it?

Another 3 years roll by, and there's still no complete rip for this game!

I don't think this would be a trivial example as it uses a custom player. Essentially you have to manually hack out the player routine and the music data separately. Good knowledge of 68000 assembler and associated debugging tools would be a key requirement.

I think the rip made by Don Adan, available on Wanted Team page, is complete. It's more a replay issue, I would guess.
Down at AMP (here), Swirlythingy wrote a converter to S3M (!). There's some explanation as to how he does it. Result is amazing . Anyway, your music is part of the result and named 'uridium2 music1-4b.s3m'. Cheers Sylvain |

Super necrobump, but it sucks that these modules are in S3M format, something not native for Amiga.
Can anyone provide these in the original custom format or any other Amiga-native file format? The Don Adan rip seems to have only what was described by bcass originally, there's 3 tunes, is what is on Exotica. The S3M archive has 20 tunes for Uridium 2, and they sound completely different than the originals. |

Well what a moron I was, XMPlay wasn't showing me the subsongs and my skin has no specific UI element for subsongs, so I thought there were none. Now I can read them, thanks for making me go look again, Asle.
What is the difference between "music1" and music2" though? I get all the same subtunes. Not even sure all the tunes in the S3M rip are here, there's only ten subtunes on each file and as I said both are equal. Is this rip really complete? It doesn't seem to me, unless XMPlay is not playing all the tunes. |

It looks like eXotica have bad rip. Both "music1" and "music2" sounds almost the same (except subsong 10) and about 10 themes are missing from S3M pack. It's identical under XMPlay (Win) and Eagle Player (Amiga).
About "more Amiga format", Super Stardust title music is in S3M format. Moreover S3M is convertable to PT/similar. Last edited by Solo Kazuki; 12 October 2017 at 13:46. |
