Developer includes for C

I am currently running in emulation, Amiga Forever system 3.X. I have successfully installed DICE and made all assigns. To test install I entered the Hello World! and compiled. I received a laundry list of errors. After pulling hair, I read the first error. "Cannot find 1.3 Libs" I had searched online and can only find Devs CD 1.1 as a download. This CD does not include 1.3 libs. It does include 2.0 and 3.1. It seems the only way to get 1.3 is to buy the newest release of Devs CD 2.1. I will eventually do this, but currently don't need it. Both of my systems are 2.1 or 3.1. Just sharing

BTW the quick fix was to change Vopts to enforce use of 2.0

DICE works ok but it is old and no longer developed. DICE or SAS/C probably still makes sense for low resources real Amigas but otherwise there are better options. For newer versions of AmigaOS, it is going to be much easier to install and use vbcc.

The AmigaOS 3.9 NDK can be found on the following page.

Thanks matthey, already found it. Currently "enjoying" the memories of early compilers, and how to get around problems without much literature. The literature is there now, and finding it is pretty easy.

it seems VBCCs compile speed has improved drastically on 68030s. However, where's the make utility?

Vbcc is missing many of the tools for development. It is difficult enough to maintain a cross compiler without all the tools GCC optionally includes (basically much of the BSD OS).

I prefer Make 3.76.1 which has been Amiga-tized by Stefan Ruppert, is very good and small but is quite old today and may give problems with some make files which use new features.

There are newer versions of make available (usually compiled from the tools which come with GCC) but some have problems and will pop up requesters asking for weird Unix paths or similar.

Glad to hear the speed of vbcc has improved. This is a good sign since I believe the distribution is used to compile itself. TLSFMem and PFS both make a big difference in performance but use more memory.

Thanks, all try it

It's just for compiling Lua5.3 and the Cephes library. Shouldn't be a problem. They both have simple make files.

SAS/C still compiles faster, but VBCC has indeed improved a lot. It used to be unusable on a 68030.
