Three for the price of one :D

Haven't posted news of these releases here until now as they're only little things but...

I've been doing some work making cracktros for the guys over at flashtro.com, basically cos I think that site is great. I really enjoy looking at all the old cracktros and, as I'm a fan, I think it's nice to be able to contribute something.

So, here's your three:

Crackdown Cracktro:

ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/pmc/R...ckdown_trainer

Trex Warrior Cracktro:

http://awesome.commodore.me/user/pmc...ll/flashtro_db

Hudson Hawk Cracktro:

http://awesome.commodore.me/user/pmc.../bouncing_cube

The .adf images of the cracked / trained versions of the games these cracktros are on the front of can be found on their respective pages over at flashtro.com

Greetz to musashi9 and Wayne Kerr!

Neat little intros

(BTW: the MIME types are wrong, the Trex and Hudson links will open as text directly in the browser)

Any idea if there's a way I can fix that?

It's just something I noticed. You can right-click links to download directly using most browsers so it's not really important.

And yeah flashtro.com is really cool. It may not be M68K assembly, but this guy running the site is leaving everyone else in the dust! There are like hundreds of remade Amiga intros on his site and they're all identical to the originals.

Here's another little cracktro effort from me for the flashtro boys:

Or on Youtube if your prefer:

The tune doesn't seem to have been converted properly on this one yet but I'm sure musashi9 will fix that at some point.

Check the attached for the Mint Green Remix version (slightly larger dotflag, slightly different text) that will run directly on an Amiga - I'd intended for this to be the version released but as it turns out the previous version I sent over to Flashtro came out instead. Tune works properly in this one too.

Several reasons

Firstly, practical: the original is in Future Composer format and I didn't want to use a Future Composer replayer. I tend to use The Player 6.1 as it gives very fast playback saving raster time that I can use for other things, like making a larger dotflag for example , and also compresses the tune to save space. In this case the FC version is 22Kb, the compressed module in the intro is 13Kb. I also wanted a tune that looped. I like looping tunes for my cracktros as I think a song with an ending that doesn't match the ending of the intro sounds wrong.

Secondly, artistic: the original gets a bit up beat and I wanted a more sedate and tranquil sound as I think that suits the gently waving dotflag more.

Thirdly, I just really like Estrayk's stuff. All four of my cracktros for Flashtro feature Esrtrayk tunes.

Taste notwithstanding, my remark was more about the replay accuracy you referred to than anything else.
And come on, make them flags as big as you can

No, no - thank you. As said in the intro, you've done your fair share of helping my understanding improve so a greeting well deserved I'd say.

freehand: ah, the dragonball... The cracktro itself is probably a bit plain and average but I actually had some good fun making that one and learned a few new things.

Getting the intro as you see it on the screen took a week or two. This would have meant lots of thinking time and then actually coding for a few hours here and there over the period of a couple of days. I got a routine working and then, taking what I'd learned from that first go, completely recoded it into a second version also working on optimising it as much as I could before adding a simple text writer.

Had time to squeeze in one more cracktro before the end of the year for the people over at flashtro.

This one was knocked together pretty quickly so isn't that much to look at but, in my opinion at least, it's always nice to see a glenz vector

I hope you had a good Christmas and have a good New Year - enjoy

EDIT: should also say, alternatively you can check out the flashtro remake: http://www.flashtro.com/index.php?e=...=Amiga&id=3093
