Indeed. Maybe I'm just putting too high a value on human life, but I would think of the economy as a distant second place in terms of priority, especially in nations with a mature, developed economy such as India or the US.

If you value human life, then you value the economy. No economy = no food industry.

The US government is giving out money to keep the economy going. There's already a talk about the second stimulus check and it's bigger than the first check.

A lot of places opened for business (not essential) and caused a lot of infections. They are now closed. The bars were one and they are griping about closing. I guess once the dummies die off we won't have any more problems.

Of course, but the economy is still there - people are still working, the food industry is still turning a tidy profit. Just because the economy isn't trying to expand faster than ever before, doesn't mean collapse is imminent, or even close. And that was my point when I said a "mature, developed" economy: Recession is likely, and that's fine, but it would take far, far more than a partial shutdown of industry to cause an outright economic collapse that halts the production of food.

I read about a bar opening in Michigan after a 3 month lockdown, no one gave a shit for covid-19, they caused 85 infections and shut down for good.

This one?

https://nypost.com/2020/06/28/85-inf...n-college-bar/

Doesn't read like it is closed permanently. They just closed because, who would have thunked it, they couldn't control the patrons and now need to go back to the drawing board. To draw up magic spells, I then think. I feel extremely sorry for bar/pub owners in these times, their target audience is not... cooperative.

No thanks, I don't need TV or radio, nor do I want to pay for it. There seems to be nothing interesting in this world for me anymore. Yes, I have access to my savings again or to what is left of it after the VW Diesel scandal and the Corona crash. Maybe still enough for a few more boring years, but I don't think much about the future. It's all pointless except for listening to the Blues and drinking red wine.

Do you also close your eyes while you drive (if you drive)? Does that make things disappear?

Glad to hear you back to ol' normal. I do like to listen to radio while driving, at least hear about traffic, weather and what business had to close due to pandemic. Life changed a lot in past 3 months, and from what I see, it will change even more soon.

Why would you ever go out anyway? I stay indoors for years now and would never bother to go out, pandemic or not.

P.S. No economy = no health care? That's surely an interesting debate, but sadly it's not being discussed fairly. Food for thoughts: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/23/o...epression.html

Interesting argument

I well know i live in my own world since some years (5/6 years)

This doesn't mean i'm antisocial

Indeed i have nothing against the real world

For me is simply more easy to live in "Another World"

I guess what I said was a bit strong. I meant not being sociable.

At my age now nearly all my friends are dead and not looking for new friends, too much drama.

I go places as needed but not involved in social activities. I am disabled but fairly mobile.

Most friends I have are online like you. Faceless and no age barrier.

Again no drama.
