Floppy disk insertion UI

Hi,

Please please make a filesystem browser for the F12 floppy insertion menu. It's all and fine if you're a gamer and add your multi-disk game's images to the disk swapper, but I'm trying to do some productivity stuff in FS-UAE and the images that need to go in are a lot more arbitrary in this case. Killing the emu just to select a disk to insert is a joke.

This is the #1 thing bugging me whenever I do Amiga floppy archival.

Floppy Disks

Hi,

Just successfully installed a WorkBench 1.3 installation and must say its looking very good - if I don't say so my self - lol.

I am busy trying to replicate my old system (for kicks and giggles) and have hit a slight problem in that I have to select my floppies before I start my session. Is there anyway to load and unload floppies on a adhock system like in winUAE ?

Thanks

Ump..

lol I have just asked more or less if what you want is possible. Yes under a workbench environment I would like to add floppies as and when with no limit.

Hi, as you say, the current mechanisms works fine for pre-configured games (which was what FS-UAE was originally developed for). Today, with a much broader feature set, it makes sense to implement a proper built-in floppy file selector (and also rethink some decisions/issues surrounding floppy image write-ability defaults). I'm just a bit swamped at the moment

There's no file browser for floppies in FS-UAE itself yet, no.

Cool, hopefully you'll have time for this some time in the future. :-)

Apart from this little problem, FS-UAE has enabled me to stay on Linux for most of my vintage computing tasks, thanks a bunch! :-)

Just would like to add another voice in requesting this feature.
Is this in the plan for any dev releases in the near future?

I've added some test code to integrate with https://github.com/mlabbe/nativefiledialog to provide native file selector dialogs, looks promising for at least Linux/Gnome3. Haven't tried other platforms yet.

So this would be optimized for mouse/keyboard operation and not gamepads, which makes sense. It is better to use native dialogs for this instead of creating an awkward gamepad-oriented interface which doesn't list your favorites/drives as you are used to.

(The current interface will still be used for swapping disks for game configurations (etc))

Sounds great to me. Happy to test it out on OSX for you if you don't have access to test on that platform.
