There is a sample chapter online to take a look at which you can get by clicking on the cover.

Thanks for taking a look, and my apologies (again) for the email intrusion. I'd be happy to receive any feedback (and even happier to get your pre-order!)

Why, thank you!

The Amiga book is steadily being worked on... There's another couple of books to come out first though. You'll be able to tell when the Amiga book is close to being done because I'll be showing up here a lot and asking dumb questions

In the meantime, the 8-bit book is about one day away from being sent to the printer...

Here's the *nearly* finalized cover art for the 8-bit book, for anyone who is interested.

Thanks
Andrew

P.S. I do not like that you have to provide your credit card details before you find out how much shipping & handling is!

No current plans for another printing of the speccy book... But I'm thinking about it.. Or something like it..

And sorry about the shipping thing. I can't calculate shopping until I know the address... nothing gets charged until you see the shipping cost and confirm the order... I don't store credit card info though. I use it and then discard it. Well, I do save the expiry date and last four digits in case any questions come up later, but that's it.

Also, it's all client side. The credit card info doesn't even get transmitted to the server until you press the 'confirm order button'. Up till that point, I only send the country selection (to calculate shipping)... Or maybe the full address... Can't remember :P

Amiga has > 8 bits. NO SALE

Just kidding Gogogo and make sure to include some tidbits not available on the net, if you have it.

Gahhh... I miss the good old days of Compute and Creative Computing and Byte and other nice mags where you could revel and marvel... only 'printer round-up' and crap like that in today's excuses for magazines...

I know, I know, 1 man can't make it worth the while to print n issues... but still, would be nice

Is there a table of contents, or a list of the games covered, anywhere?

For the 8-bit book? On the website go to the relevant book page for info.
For the amiga book, we are still deciding on the final list.

I'm still trying to get the hang of this whole 'book production' thing, so this time I will try and announce the book for preorder much closer to the actual publication date... I'm thinking three months rather than eighteen months

I got my hardback version of the 8bit book a few days back too. I urge anyone with any interest in the early 8bit games of the 80's to get this. Its a great book, full of facts about games covering a broad range of machines, and one of the things i found most interesting was all the info on games i knew from the spectum but from a different platforms perspective.

And i'm also very keen for the Amiga book

I'm gutted, just went on the site and saw the spectrum book. It's sold out. Damn. I think I would have liked that, would have made an enjoyable read. Will definitely have to get hold of a copy of the Amiga book when that comes out.
