Desert Racing Of Bardos
Has anyone tried the demo or bought the real game on a real Amiga?
Have bought the game and the game crawls at 1-2fps except the intro animations and cutscene animations. Demo: http://www.intuitionbase.com/DesertRacingDemo.lha Link to game website: http://www.apc-tcp.de/support/0020e.html |

Other people have reported slow FPS even on 060/66mhz, perhaps some code tweaking is in place. Or a PPC-exe :P
Maybe the full version is faster, like with Freespace. |

tthey need to remake the game with a nice fast texture mapped engine like flying high . Turbo racer was a horrid slow voxel engine racer too :/. Shadow of the third moon was a nice fast voxel based game ..hmm

Have posted in the APC support forum.
The speed of the game now makes it unplayable. |

Another Voxel Amiga Game was one called Wheels On Fire.
It was very fast, but quite blocky.. Still not a bad little game despite the average reviews. It got repetitive though. Check it out here. http://hol.abime.net/4863/screenshot Flying High was ok though. I didnt exactly jump up and down when i saw it, but neither did i think it was bad. The best 3D texture mapped/voxel based racer was Xtreme Racing. Especially 2 players. I cant help but feel though, that games like Turbo Racer, Flying High & Wheels On Fire made the Amiga look a little Cheap!?. like it was not coping with demands of the time. The best 3D games of the time that i thought looked the part ( but werent racing ) were AB3D, Breathless, Testament, Trapped & Genetic Species. Those were the ones that make me think WOW, my Amiga is still up there with the best!. Gloom though was in a league of its own. Not exaclty amazing, but a damn great game to play with all those body parts flying all over the place and in 2 player, need i say more. Last edited by blade002; 20 March 2006 at 11:53. |
