Amiga games that started something?

What is, the Best Amiga Game, not because Graphics or Sounds, but because the whole Game(game play, story, graphics...)?

Ooh, that's a very subjective question. If you're looking for the best Amiga original game (whether ported later or not), I'd hazard a guess that both Lemmings and Worms might actually score really well.

They're not my personal favourites, but they both started massively successful franchises (with Worms being more successful in sequels and Lemmings being very successful straight away but doing worse in later decades) and thus started a true 'Amiga legacy' in gaming.

I'm sure this has been discussed numerous times before on EAB.

Too lazy to search for previous threads, like sandruzzo was... and can't be bothered answering again

roondar is correct; it's all very subjective anyway...

Well, your title says "Amiga Best Game?"...

If you meant something else then write it!!!

Ok, I've now changed the thread to be "Amiga games that started something?".

In my opinion Dune II, Maniac Mansion and Elite
really started something...

Played and loved them back then. I even reached status "deadly" in Elite on the C64 which takes a loooot of time

If I'm not wrong Dune II even started a genre (!)

As usual these games were released on many platforms back then. For example Elite first came out for the BBC Micro and following it's enourmous success it was quickly adapted to many systems.

Lemmings set the bar for games that reached a huge target audience and Shadow of the Beast proved to developers that you could do technical wizardry with the hardware.

Sort of. Dune 2 paved the road for Command & Conquer. Dune 2 is to RTS as Wolfenstein 3d is to FPS - they were the stepping stone, not the game that made the genre a widespread thing that others would copy.

But the Amiga port can only have had a small hand to play in all that, it came too late in the Amiga's lifecycle.

Eye of the Beholder was definitely inspired by Dungeon Master, originally for the Atari ST.

If we're going for multi-platform games then and not just ones that were started on the Amiga then you can't ignore (the frankly terrible) FIFA International Soccer. That started one of the most successful game series of all time. Still going strong to this day and selling millions of copies every year.

Nope its an Amiga game first and foremost, in interviews they talk about getting networking first on the Amiga and had to choose 16 colour graphics for ease of porting to the ST and various DOS formats, despite a chunk of code being written on the ST, the lead platform was the Amiga version, with audio cuts being made for the ST.

If you check ST/Amiga format it states the Amiga version came out a few weeks before the ST version, the DOS one came at least several months later than that.
