Universal Monsters - Trained Version?

Following on from this thread "Universal Monsters - most complete version???": http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=81600

I've put the single game .ADF "Universal Monsters (1993)(Ocean)[The One Amiga - Feb 1993][demo].zip" that I created in The Zone!

Is any talented cracker / trainer or anyone else able to make a trainer version from .ADF?

...it sucks that you only have 3 lives before it's game over.

Hi!

It's only a five minutes hack without too much test, but it should work fine.

For choosing the number of lives that you would like to choose, open your adf in your favourite hexadecimal editor (HxD or similar), go to the offset $4E5B and changed the value 3 for the number of lives that you want. Save the modified ADF and enjoy!!! (i am uploading to the zone a version where you start with 9 lives).

If you want infinite lives, then open your adf in the hex editor and go to the offset $9248 and change the $66 for #60 and that is all!!! (i am uploading this version to the zone too)

Hello there SyX,

Excellent, thank you very much. Appreciated

I don't want to sound ungrateful (and am definitely not). It would be cool if a cracktro / trainer version with say the ability to toggle the following gets created at some stage in the future:
  • Unlimited Lives.
  • Unlimited Energy.
This would give this unreleased gem the treatment it deserves IMHO

...for now though, I'll be using your "forced" unlimited lives version. Thanks again sir

No problem DamienD!

I am sure that somebody, with more free time than me, will make a cracktro. I only found your post by luck this morning and remembered that a long time ago i started to disassembly this game, hehehe.

Alrighty; I've modified SxY's forced "unlimited lives" .ADF so that:
  • When booting you will see this text.
  • Waits for 3 seconds and then the game loads as per usual.

Not sure how to name this file for TOSEC... mai or crashdisk; can you please advise?

For now I've gone with the following (which is a mouthful):

Universal Monsters (demo-playable) (1993)(Ocean)[t SyX][forced unlimited lives][The One Amiga - Feb 1993][unreleased].adf

Zipped file now in The Zone!

I love that minimalist retro feeling, you only need to add the ansi logo and the typical cracker motto, hehehe.

Ok, ok, ok... Last bit of fiddling around; I promise

Tried to make this .ADF a little bit more respectable and learnt something in the process (who would have thought hey).

The boot text now looks like the following:

Anyway; all my old uploads removed and the new archive uploaded to The Zone!

So, I know I said that I wouldn't but have played around a little more; oops

Anyway, boot text now looks like this:

Old archive removed and the new one now to The Zone!

If you can't tell by now I'm really bored at home today; tomorrow I head up to Glen Eagles in Scotland with the girlie...

Anyway; absolute last modification:

Personally I think it looks quite cool now (compared to where it started from)

As per usual, old archive removed and the new one now to The Zone!
