FTP Client that supports directories

Hey all, trying to get back in to my Amiga (A1200T 030), it has a CF card etc, and I set up a backup FTP server to backup WHDLoads to.

Does anyone know of an FTP client for the Amiga that supports uploading/download directories?

I tried AmiTradeCenter(crashes), AmiFTP, and AmFTP.

Else, is it possible to set up the Amiga as an FTP server? I just don't want to have to select 10,000 files each time.

I run mlftpd on my Amigas — at least those that still run AmiTCP.

Which TCP stack are you running? MiamiDX doesn't handle directories well no matter which ftp program you use, it is a known bug. AmiTCP has no problems though and I don't think Roadshow does either.

I know it’s not the answer you’re looking for, but to get around this you can run an ftp server on the amiga, and a capable client on the other end like filezilla.

No that's a GOOD answer, what software for the Amiga do you recommend?

Assuming you're using Windows, Samba and rsync is another option worthy of consideration.

The latest Amiga specific GUI based, and which used to be popular too, is RC-FTPd. It's freeware nowadays and worth to try.

There was some other GUI based ftpd too... was it OrangeFTPd?

Most others are without GUI, installed to inetd and with text config files etc. I've used wu-ftpd successfully at least (although I hacked my own version with support for passive connections through firewall, but if you're going to use it in LAN, it should work just fine).

Check the options at Aminet.

Wouldn't this do the trick? It mounts an FTP site as if it was a standard Amiga volume. http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/FTPMount

For backup (and a lot of other things) I prefer to use rsync:

I think I used to use one which you set up with text files and use with AmiTCP. So I would try other GUI based optios first as suggested here, or even check in case there’s one built into Genesis.
