Beneath a Steel Sky - CD32

I tried this WHDLOAD pack last night on my 1200 (OS3.9, 16mb installed in a Blizz 030). First problem was the unzip, not sure exactly how big this sucker is but it took a couple of years to unpack (damn I need that IDE Express!). Anyway got the game going and it started jumping around like a bunny on acid. I had a quick look at the readme and it said there are a couple of options for the packs (speech and forward loading). My WHDLOAD pack has the speech in it, not sure about the other option. So what's going on with the jumping, anyone know?

You only have 16mb of RAM, the speech version requires over 98mb of RAM to work without 'jumping'.

I'd recommend you simply install the CD32 version and use that.

98 mb

I did read that but I assumed it was talking about HD space. I guess I'll have to wait till I upgrade my Blizz to 128mb before I can play this one properly

Yeah it needs 98mb to preload the entire game into RAM. If it can't fit it all in RAM it needs to keep reloading the OS and getting more data from the HDD which is why you see the jumping.

The CD32 version runs fine from a HDD and you get full speech too. It's one of the only non-whdload games I have on my HDD

If you like to have speech, just run it in ScummVM.

Actually the speech is awesome imho, but there's one place where there's a long dialog, but the speech is either broken or non existant.
No idea if it happens in other versions, I've only played the CD32 one.

I don't remember how's the location suppose to be named, but i's when you walk down, on the "surface", with the (gay ) bar on the left, the appartment on the right, the swimming pool in the middle, and below that, there's somekind of a janitor's office/shack.
I also don't remember at what time exactly it happens, but I think when you try to enter it.
There's whole lot of text shown on the screen for a second, the guy starts to talk, the sample is played and it gets cut after a few letters, also the text disappears.

To this day I don't know what was that all about...

Slightly OT, but has anybody managed to get the CD version of Simon the Sorceror to work in this same way? Doesn't seem to work for me. BASS does, though.
