Thanks for the info. That's not an emulator problem for sure. Luckily, these disks are true AmigaDOS disks, so one could just copy the disks to HD or RAM: to identify the broken files.
These can be replaced by the files from one of those numerous TOSEC versions...(unless ALL of those versions have the same files broken )

Outside of the fact that most of the TOSEC sites are up and down, neither the German nor the English versions of this game are very rare. There are two German versions in the TOSEC dats, three English versions, and a French version. If you need any of them (or all of them) posted, just ask.

I loaded the first English version (Maniac Mansion (1988)(Lucasfilms)(Disk x of 2)) and copied all of the files to RAM: with no problems, so there appears to be no buggered files on that set (which is, btw, [m DonGues Soft] even if this is missing from the filename...)

Hooooo

Sorry, i checked the amiga-island site again. I didnt see the link, but also this version is broken.
I dont know which german tosec version is up on the web sites, coz all sites i know did not support TOSEC name conventions.
All german version i found, crash after a while. I really want to complete the game and i played some hours and get in all versions to a point, where this game crashes.
I dont know, who cracked that version, but i am really looking to get a fine german version, because of the german translation of mr. schneider / ex-editor of the mag power play.
Perhaps s4murai can post his version.

It is one thing to get games on the net ( very easy ), but another to get 100 % full playable games. Next example is Delphine's FUTURE WARS cracked by PARADOX or VISION FACTORY.
Both versions crash at the final showdown, i was very luckyto get the original full working versions. ( Pdx's Future Wars Crack already crashes on my good old A500 1990 )

but anyway thx for all your help....thx for this strong community!!!

This is yet another reason that I prefer to play Amiga games on a real Amiga using WHDLoad. The versions of the games are directly from an original floppy and so are untouched by crackers. And if there is a problem with the install or game at some point, then you can email the patcher.

Apart from the WHDLoad crackers of course!

It is nice to get a crack-fix though if needed

Easy as pie.
Just make up a save disk, save the position BEFORE this point.
This makes things easier to debug and to find the missing or broken file.

Just post your savedisk.
Maybe I just need to transfer one of the "broken" MM versions to real disk and they work one the real thing.
I won't blame the emulator unless I can verify it crashes on the real machine, too.

And here I thought they asked you to post the savedisk to save you the trouble of downloading and testing yet another version to see if it was broken.

Toxic, people where trying to solve your problem with the version you had.

If you wanted the original version you should've just requested it

HEY!

Will you simmer down again immediately? Please?
Well...
I thought that it would be a good thing to post your save disk. The EAB is mainly affiliated with the Amiga database project, and your save disk could have helped LOTS of versions to be renamed as [b] (bad). EAB always aims to kill two birds with one stone and not to only play "ADF supporter" for people.

That are you not any adf supporter i know now very well,
but i asked for the original and didnt get it.
I downloaded f**cking lots of Maniac mansion versions and
they didnt work. Giving my savedisk to the zone will only
repeat the tihngs i have done hours and hours before:
testing for a working version!!!
I have two tosec versions and plenty of other versions from
all known sites. Do really believe, that makes a difference when
six or ten of you test the hole thing again. I dont think so.

but forget it ...its history for me and that is for sure my last post here .... bye

Not posting here ever again because one person did not fulfill a request? And then it's..

NOBODY cares? One person mentions he has an original dump. It wasn't posted. So that makes this board apathetic to your needs? Are we suddenly unfriendship rules? I think you take yourself far too seriously. The general attitude when requesting hard-to-find games is that you should be grateful if the request if filled. To feel chuffed when it is not 'requests-on-demand' is unrealistic. But to leave a community because of it is downright childish.

If that is all that this community means to you, maybe we can't offer what you need anyhow...
