Matt, when you read this, could you possibly read out the questions rather than have them typed on screen. I tend to be doing several other things when listening to your interviews so don't see the questions your asking.

Thanks for posting, Coze. I need to quit being so lazy and actually make a new thread.
I thought about that, Ian, but it's hard because I can't record my audio AND their audio at the same time. I could probably figure it out, but it'd take some work. Besides, you don't really need to hear the questions anyway. It makes sense to me regardless, but useful for transitions. |

This interview was something else! Perfect episode with lots of interesting stories from the FPS God himself.
I must say it's very refreshing to see some quality in game reviews again. There are just too many AVGN wannabes out there. I'd rather see four Full House shows in a row! Ok.. maybe not four. |

Man, I know that feeling. I programmed a bit here and there, but never seemed to catch that bug that would've pushed me harder. Too many other things that I found exciting, such as reading, science fiction, writing, etc.

Without trying to sound like a complete jerk here, i didn't even like Wolfenstein from the very first time i played it.It was around october 93 i think that i saw this the first of 3d shooters and despite a play time of around 30 minutes on it, i came away rather unimpressed.Personally i think it's rather crap
Doom on the other hand is something still quite remarkable and i find it rather astonishing how absolutely perfect the game was regards to so many things- a game that will remain forever great. Most interesting i think is how even though Wolfenstein was a first step, Doom managed to deliver something truly incredible in it's first attempt- ask yourself just how hard that really is to achieve considering how many failed albeit fun clones later appeared.I guess it could be down to just being the first real game of it's type but i think it's much more than that |

I agree. But Wolf3D wasn't that bad, though.

@Adropac2 Wasn't too impressed by Wolfenstein 3D either, but it surely was a fun game. I always think of it as the milestone that made Doom or Quake possible and thus it has a important place in my personal game history @Matt Great vid again Really looking forward to the Doom one |

matt + blade: the door is still open to the wonderful world of game development you know; its just not as glamorous (or challenging, unless you suck at math like me) as it used to be

Apropos, never played an id game for longer than 3 minutes. Don't know why, as I don't damn FPS or anything. I still recognize the technical genius, and enjoy the interview greatly.
