A500 key caps on an A4000 ?
This may be a dumb question, but can can the key caps from an A500 or A500+ be used to replace some on an A4000 keyboard?

It's possible.
Some A3000 and A4000 keyboards use same membranes on Mitsumi keyboards as A500, so they should be interchangeable. Best bet is to look under key caps and see if they are the same. |

Look at the plungers. If the A4000 keyboard's plungers are different to the A500 ones (square hole flush with the top of the plunger vs. square hole in a round recess), you must swap the plungers along with the keycaps.
A500 mitsumi keyboards only ever had those recessed square holes, but big box keyboards have been seen with both kinds. |
