Hello all
Hi guys,
Another noob from sunny England. First of all - I would like to thank Whiteb and Cammy for their help and advice. I have now the proud owner of a heavily used but still in good shape A1200. Most of the disks that came with it are toast, but I managed to get Jaguar XJ220 running. Forgot how good Martin Iveson's music was. So I hope to get to know you all a little better. |

Thanks for the welcome guys.
@Prowler - I always wanted a 1200. I had an original 500, and then a 600. Slowly moving up the Commodore food chain. @Amigakit - nice shop. I have seen a couple of things I would like to get soon. @Graham - who could refuse a challenge like that? I just need to get some method of creating my own Amiga discs from adf's and then I'm in. @Muzkat - cheers! @TheCyberDruid - Lotus 2 was the best of the series for me too. Always liked Vroom though, faster and smoother. And you're talking to an old Turrican head here. Again the second game was the best one. @ck1200 - Would love to add a hard drive, and get an acelerator with at least 8mb of fast ram. Finally, sort out the case and yellowed keyboard. Maybe sacrifice a CDTV keyboard to the gods of vanity!! |

hi tekkendp
for adf transfer goto amigakit.com, busy EasyADF, this plugs into your Amiga's PCMCIA and allows you to read and write to a cf card... comes with easy software to transfer adf to real disk, so grab some while you are there... ...if you need anything, then just request we all have loads of ermm stuff welcome |

@Djay - Thanks. I have been doing loads, and loads and loads of reading to get my head around what I would need to get to have a nice WHDLoad machine (trying to make the A1200 as close to a gaming console as possible). The EasyADF is on my shopping list:-
1) 8MB RAM card - is this enough or just the bear minimum for WHDLoad? 2) 4GB CF HD 3) EasyADF Transfer Kit What do you guys think? Is this a sensible list for a gaming 1200? I have been thinking about an accelerator with 32 or 64MB of fast ram. But I haven't really found any use of that. Or are there Amiga games that will need that kind of horse power? Would having an accelerator speed up games like Microprose F1GP? Is a 4GB CF HD enough, or should I get an 8 or 16GB card? Sorry for all the questions. I guess this is why member introductions is in the problems section!! |

I really recommend Easy ADF, I got mine from AmigaKit last month and its quite a god send for transferring. You'll have it set up in minutes too. It lives up to its name

There are a few A1200 (AGA) specific games that would love a 030 accelerator mainly FPS games such as Alien Breed 3D, Gloom, Breathless and some other games (and many demo's)... But an 8mb RAM expansion will do fine for most WHDLoad gaming. Welcome and have fun

@TheCyberDruid - Sorry *IS* the best version. You Turrican fanboi!!!!! Just wish they would finish and release Turrican 3D.
@ck1200 - Amigakit has some nice, ahem Amiga kit. I will be getting his 4GB CF 1200 package. And don't worry, I don't have the heart to "harm" an innocent CDTV keyboard. I can tell you are worried about their wellbeing. @Phipscube - I have read only good things about the kit and Amigakit, so at this point it's a no brainer @Powerpie5000 - Thanks. Still thinking, as the accelerator will allow me to run a more modern and better looking WB, the newer games, and that feeling of poooower!!!!! But geting 8MB will be a cheaper option. Aaaargh!!! Too many choices @Slk486 and Dastardly - Thanks for the welcome. |

Well I have taken the plunge and ordered an ADF Transfer kit and a Scart kit (Gold of course, gotta bling up the old girl!!!). After that it's going to be an accelerator, 8mb minimum fast ram and a compact flash harddrive install.
@Turrican3 - thanks for the welcome. Just curious, you prefer Turrican 2, so why call yourself Turrican 3? |
