My question is/was: Is Bubble Bobble 4 still flickering on real hardware?

Graphics that looked like amateurish work or unfinished, and what a surprise, a rigid/blocky/squared playability (and no my c64 is working correctly, thanks gentlemen ).
This is utter nonsense. Sorry, there a tons of great drawn c64 graphics, with beautiful animations and highres sprites. I could list them, but you would deny it again. For known reasons.

e.g.: Look at the X-Out C64 graphics. Larger viewable area, more details, no unnatural colored sprites. And once again, way too pale Vice/CCS64 palette for the mobygames screens.

Yes, the sprites are still flickering.

The R-Type CPC remake is the best 8-bit conversion, though.

I assume you mean best 8bit Computer version. The Sega Master System & PC-Engine versions are far better (C64 too).

So, the available CPC emulators works properly. Heh?

Yes, but it seems that your eyes are not strong enough for the BB CPC experience.

Hehe, it was a teasing against Denis comment "You need real hardware for the full/proper CPC performance".

I know that. Good CPC emulators on 50Hz displays shows a proper performance, no matter what game. R-Type 2012 doesn't run magically better on real hardware.

You didn't say that before. So, all current CPC emulators are flawed, if we talk about a good perfomance? Hard to believe.

yes most CPC emulators are flawed, we're nowhere as near as winuae in term of precision in emulation.

Just to explain : each emulator has its strength, but none gets really "complete".

and the FDC upd765 is still not fully emulated, that's the real sad story.

Retro-Nerd, I agree with you abuot Turrican 2... I never played the CPC version but I looked it up on Youtube just now, and even though it has more/brighter colors, I don't think it looks better... it looks more sluggish and less fun to play, in my opinion. Keep in mind that I never actually played it, though... this is just my impression from watching it on Youtube.

However, if you want to see some *really* (!) impressive CPC stuff, take a look at this demo, running on real hardware (Amstrad CPC 6128)... seriously, take a look... it's damn impressive!

The C64 has some really amazing demos too, though... such as this incredible demo, saw it running on a real C64 the other day, impressed the hell out of me! -

Looks like a floppy controller. Has really nothing to do with general game speed/video performance. Utilizes R-Type 2012 some tricks that current emulators can't do?

Of course the CPC has some good games, but as already mentioned mostly in Isometric oder Vectorgraphic games. And for real C64 art, no matter if game or non-game:
