Partitions Not Appearing In Workbench

Guys,

I've just partitioned a 4GB CF card in my A4000 and after reboot I would expect to see 3 Ndos disks waiting to be formatted. The problem is I'm only seeing the DH0 (bootable) partition neither of the other 2 are visible.

What am I doing wrong?

thanks

Pete

Probably "no disk in drive" FFS "feature": http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=69128

Run C:Info in shell.

(btw, what does this have to do with winuae?)

I agree with Toni, seems like the OP is using real hardware and not emulation.

Moved to the support.hardware forum instead

My apologies Toni, I've mistakenly selected the wrong location. But the question is still valid as I had the same issue using Winuae. I tried several times without getting any of the partitions to appear.

I'd only minutes before tried yet again unsuccessfully then moved over to the A4000. At which time I had some success. I figured it was time to ask for some expert help for the community.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check it out tonight when I get back from work. Right now it's 5.30 am and I best get ready to go to work.

Cheers

What filesystem are you using? Did you perhaps make a typo when entering the dostype for the partitions that didn't become visible?

Are you using OS 3.9? If yes, try a OS 3.1 boot disk.

I'm using 3.1

I've tried various partition sizes from 80 up 1000.

Tried in a real A4000 using a floppy emulator cause I don't have any "real" disks.

I've tried using an emulated A4000 and the Amiga Forever CD. I've even tried using an emulated A1200.

I've changed the Max Transfer Value.

Each time the same thing happens, I only get 1 Ndos disk/partition showing. I've changed the Max Transfer Value

The only thing I haven't tried, cause I don't know how, is changing the File System. Where do I get the alternate file systems from.?

Check post #3 again and run C:info. Does it list non-working partitions with "no disk in drive" state?

I can't remember exactly what it said but it did show the 3 partitions. I'm almost certain that it said "no disk in drive" cause that was the error message when I tried to use Format on the listed partitions even though they didn't appear on Workbench.

This week I also installed a 4 GB flash card and saw the partitions only in the early boot screen, after booting they were gone and I can remember that last time this happened I had to boot from the workbench disk.

I got it working. I reran Diskpart on the CF card and restarted the process and everything worked perfectly.

I've now got a working HD in my A4000, only problem now is I want to mount my IDE CDROM back into the machine but I've got nothing to plug it into.
