Whats the best emulator?

Hello, new to these forums and looking for a little advice.

I had an Amiga 600 back in the day, until I can find an Amiga to relive the old days on I am looking to use an Amiga emulator on my current pc, but which is the best way to go.....I want it for now to play games on but will be looking to get more involved in the coding side of things as I go along.

Thanks in advance.

It really depends what OS you are using...

If Windows then WinUAE is clearly the best and most advanced

If MAC / Linux etc. then FS-UAE...

I'm a Windows guys and prefer FS-UAE. The video configuration is way easier and it just feels more comfortable, I can never get WinUAE to look the way I want it to. I only use WinUAE for not-everyday things like transferring stuff to CF card.

Just set this to "No scaling" and you can manually adjust the picture however you want:

"Default"-scaling makes everything look terrible.

WinUAE is a sign that the Amiga community truly is blessed. It's a struggle to find something that doesn't work on it.

Yup, totally agree... and it's all down the man Master Wilen

He's constantly improving WinUAE and helping out / investigating anything and everything day after day, month after month, year after year...

Personally, I usually donate as often as I can; especially when he fixes issues that I've brought up.

If you love WinUAE and the 24 / 7 support we get from Toni then I strongly suggest that you try to do the same.

Not that I think it's going to happen, but we can't loose a man with his skills / knowledge / dedication.

Bollox

There's not another emulator on the face of God's green earth that remains as powerful and as flexible as WinUAE, SPECIALLY when it comes to display settings. Now you can thank Toni for not being the type of lazy, mediocre slob that just slaps a bunch of generic, garbage, unoptimized and downright deprecated SDL code in expecting people not to care about the quality of anything that's being displayed as long as they perceive that the application hasn't crashed yet.

FS-UAE here too - I used to run WinUAE, but don't bother with it anymore. With FS-UAE I can boot my PC directly to workbench in no time flat.
