Unofficial CD32 Conversions (An RGCD Side-Project)
As mentioned on this forum elsewhere, since purchasing a second-hand CD32 console last year I've been working on creating some CD32 ports of Amiga games and thought it would be a nice gesture to share these with the community.
Before explaining further, I'll whet your appetite (or maybe not) by listing the CD32-converted games hosted so far: All Terrain Racing CD32 (Team 17) Battle Squadron (Innerprise) Boppin' (KarmaSoft) Cardiaxx (Team 17) Cybernetix (Vision) Cyberzerk (Boeder Software) Extrial (Computec Verlag) Fly Harder Special Edition (Buzz) Jump 'N' Roll (Amiga Fun) Hybris (Discovery) Kiros Quest (Vision) Micro Machines (Codemasters) Microbes (Vision) Paradroid 90 (Hewson) Phoenix Fighters (Alive) Quasar Wars AGA (Light Designs) R-Type (Electric Dreams) R-Type II (Activision) Roadkill CD32 (Acid) Roketz AGA (The Farm) Saint Dragon (Jaleco) Silkworm (Virgin Games) Spatial Hyperdrive (TNGA) Super Obliteration (D. Papworth) SWIV (Storm) T-Racer (Virtual Dreams) Transplant (Amiga Games) Tubular Worlds AGA (CD32 Patched) (Dongleware) Turbo Trax (Arcane) Turrican (Rainbow Arts) Turrican 2 (Rainbow Arts) Turrican 3 (Rainbow Arts) Virocop AGA (Renegade) Vital Light CD32 (Millennium) Watchtower AGA (OTM) WipeOut (Fist! Unlimited) WormOut 2097 (LED) X-Out (Rainbow Arts) Z-Out (Rainbow Arts) Most of these games are hosted as .iso images ready to burn (or use with the UAE emulator), the only exception being if they are still for sale online via Amiga dealers. All of them come complete with high-resolution jewel-case inserts and basic instructions (where necessary). 'shovelware'.
Of all the ISO's I looked at, each was just the WHDload version of a game on a single disc. What a waste of a CD-R compared to the packed multi-game discs out there. Not to mention the author hardly credits WHDload on his site. (One mention, no links or credits) |

About 50% of these are from HD installed files, and the rest use WHDLoadCD32. I'll add a recommendation tonight that if people use the CDs that they register WHDLoad to provide support to the coder.
@alexh - I'm not sure why you're so negetive towards me; I'm not doing this for kudos. Frustrated at the number of non-working unofficial CD conversions out there I decided to make some single game CDs for myself, and after I'd finished I thought it would be a nice gesture to share them - that's all. I'm well aware of the excellent work that Gary, etc. did with the 200, 333, 444 and 888 discs, but I only wanted to play a few of the games on those compilations and browsing through them to find one game can be slow work. I hope this explains my reason for doing this and there are no bad feelings? @Akira - yes, there will be regular-ish updates. For a start, I'm working on a Turrican collection at the moment, and some of the other CDs on the page will probably end up becoming 2-4 game compilations (I intend to group Cybernetix on a CD with the rest of Vision's early games). (oh and by the way, many thanks to woody.cool for submitting Virocop!) Last edited by Heavy Stylus; 22 May 2009 at 19:57. |

Sorry, the phrase "I've been working on creating some CD32 ports of Amiga games" seemed so misleading to me.
IMO the real creators were the WHDload team & HD installer writers. They created the ports and you assembled them into individual ISO images? With a touch of class I might add Quote:
Of course not. Last edited by alexh; 07 April 2009 at 13:35. |

Thanks for the reply alexh - I know that (like me) you frequent Atari-Forum too, and didn't want to make an enemy of a gamer with such fine taste in vintage computer hardware
I agree that some of these games could be considered to be a waste of a CD... I'm planning on re-using most of them on 1-4 (or maybe 6) game compilations using the C= button-detect utility in the start-up sequence to select a game to load (as on the R-Types disc). The best multi-game collection I've seen to date is the 'Mega Games Vol 1' CD which features a great menu system, but as I'm no coder I'm afraid that button detecting in the start-up will have to do for now... I also agree that the WHDLoad and install coders are the people who made most of these possible, and as I said, I will ensure they are credited on the site this evening (and recommend people to register). There are several other sites out there with unofficial single-game ports available for download, but many of them are buggy. Even the 200/333/444/888 compilations have games that don't work properly or crash, but then testing 888 games through would be a real chore, so that's totally forgivable! The games listed on my page have been tested thoroughly, and if a keyboard is required I've explained why (and 90% of the time it's just for the two-player mode or highscore entry). |

With updates I meant updates to the games (graphics, fixing, etc).
As explained, these are just WHDLoad patches, so all the upgrading happened there. |

I've noticed a small error...
When I load the CD32 page, the menu item "Shop" is still highlighted at the top. All of the other pages work fine though. I'm using FF3. Here's a screenshot: |

Again, great site man
How about a download "pack" so one can download the whole lot in one go? If not, maybe a page without descriptions, just hyperlinks? It's nice to read everything, but when it's time to download the process becomes a little hampered by all the text... Again, nice job! PZ. |

Thanks for the feedback - I'll get those bugs sorted. (FIXED)
Been busy with helping to develop a new Atari STE game (hopefully in time for Outline 2009), but will hopefully upload some more games soon. I'll post here when that happens Last edited by Heavy Stylus; 15 April 2009 at 01:52. |

I've not got around to fixing the menu bar bug yet, but I've added to the page...
Turrican Collection (Turrican, Turrican II, Turrican III) Done this evening, and I have to admit that I've enjoyed testing this one (Note: Requires a keyboard for highscore entry and firing grenades in Turrican...) |

I haven't had time to look into it yet, but Micro Machines should be do-able.
