I can't imagine this costing less than $300. But $300 would be a very good price if it delivers everything it is supposed to. |

This 530 without CPU and FPU might be a decent option to replace my VXL-30 with and move the CPU and FPU over. Really don't see a need for a 040 in my A500, I have my 4000 to do the more intensive stuff on.

This looks kind of cool, but how many 040 and 060 chips are actually left out there? Hundreds? Tens-of-thousands?
I always feel like they're rare and expensive and something just for and handful of cashed-up collectors. But am I wrong? With the right open-source design could we have an 040/060 machine available in volume and at a price normal people can afford? Not saying you can't make a specialist item for people who want one, just wondering. |

I don't know how many you can get from "reputable suppliers" but every time I've wanted to buy an 060 or an 040 in the last couple years it took about 15 minutes to find one and the most I've paid for a full Rev6 060 is $80.
Are they going to sell thousands of them or a few dozen? Thousands would be a problem but a dozen would be doable if people just expect a normal 50MHz 060. |

The boards could also be sold without CPU... lots of us have some I guess. I have 2 or 3 rev6 in stock. Lol

Looking good but for Doom you'd be better off trying one of the ports compiled for 060 and without frame caps like Boom, zdoom or odamex.
